John was a kind and outstanding leader who always advocated for better mental health services. It was truly a pleasure to know and work with him. Our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.

Norfolk General Hospital and Holmes House are saddened to share the passing of John Ranger, a long-time partner, advocate, and friend to our community.

John was widely known across Haldimand-Norfolk for his leadership in mental health and addiction services through his work with Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). He was a strong supporter of Holmes House, an early partner in the Addictive Supportive Housing Program, and one of the original champions behind the creation of the RAAM Clinic in our community.

John believed deeply that care must always begin with one simple question: What is best for the client?

His advocacy, compassion, and collaboration helped shape mental health and addiction services across Norfolk in ways that continue to make a difference today.

For those who wish to learn more about John’s life and share condolences, his obituary is available at the link below:

Our thoughts are with John’s family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives were touched by his work.

Excited to welcome 30 residents to our clinic over the next few days! πŸ‘
The Norfolk Family Health Team and Norfolk General Hospital are hosting Rural Resident Academic Week from Jan. 5–7.
Training doctors from McMaster University’s Rural Stream program will be in Norfolk for two days of hands-on learning and social events, giving them a real taste of what our county has to offer.
β€œThe goal is to bring learners to Norfolk County and expose them to rural practice, with the hope that some may choose to return and practice medicine here, either in the hospital or in the community.”
