Born at Norfolk General Hospital. Now she will help shape the care others receive here.

Norfolk General Hospital (NGH) is proud to share that Amanda Sonnenberg will serve as our new Vice President of Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Executive starting February 27, 2026. She will also serve in this role at West Haldimand General Hospital.

Amanda is a Registered Nurse, a lifelong Norfolk County resident, and a respected health care leader with nearly 20 years of experience, including 15 years at NGH.

She was born at Norfolk General Hospital and now steps into a role that helps shape care for patients and families across our region. Amanda is known for her collaborative leadership style and her deep commitment to patient-centred care.

We also want to sincerely thank Kim Mullins, who is retiring after serving seven years in this role and more than 17 years in leadership at the hospital. Kim has supported teams, mentored staff, and guided care through some of the hospital’s most challenging moments. Her kindness, steady leadership, and dedication to patients and staff have left a lasting mark on our hospital and community. Kim will be deeply missed. 💙

Please join us in welcoming Amanda and thanking Kim for her years of service.

A $3 million investment in the future of local health care. ❤

Last week, our valued partners at Norfolk County, presented the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation with $3 million to support the modernization of the Norfolk General Hospital’s Minimally Invasive Surgical suites.

This investment will change what’s possible for patients in our community.

Safer surgeries.
Faster recovery.
More care delivered close to home.

With modern operating rooms and advanced technology, our surgical teams will be better equipped to care for thousands of patients each year.

We are grateful to NorfolkCounty for their partnership and long-term commitment to local health care. This support will help shape patient care today and for years to come.

Important reminder for visitors to Norfolk General Hospital

According to Grand Erie Public Health, respiratory illnesses are spreading in our community. Influenza activity remains elevated, and COVID-19 and RSV are also circulating.

At Norfolk General Hospital, we are seeing many people come to the Emergency Department with cough, fever, and flu-like symptoms. We have also had multiple COVID-19 outbreaks in recent weeks.

Please help protect patients, staff, and families

➡ If you are feeling sick, please do not visit a loved one in the hospital.
➡ Even mild symptoms can spread illness.
➡ Staying home helps protect people who are more vulnerable.

Masking reminder 😷

As we continue through respiratory illness season, masking is strongly recommended at Norfolk General Hospital in certain areas.

➡ Masks are strongly recommended in inpatient units and the Emergency Department.
➡ Masks are available at all public entrances.

What feels mild to you can be serious for someone in hospital. These steps help reduce the spread of influenza, COVID-19, RSV, and other respiratory illnesses.
