We want to share an important update with our community.

Norfolk General Hospital has declared a COVID-19 outbreak on the 3B Medical Surgical Unit. This is the second COVID-19 outbreak we are currently managing.

To protect patients, families, and staff, visiting on the 3B unit is restricted at this time. Only Essential Care Providers may visit after speaking with the care team.

We kindly ask all visitors to stay home if they are feeling unwell. Even mild symptoms can spread easily in a hospital and may cause serious illness for patients who are vulnerable. Staying home when sick is one of the most important ways you can help protect your loved ones.

Our teams have strong infection prevention and control measures in place and are closely managing the outbreak.

A new tradition has begun at Norfolk General Hospital (NGH) 👣🎶👶

Each time a baby is born, the gentle sound of Brahms’ Lullaby will now play throughout the hospital between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m., seven days a week

It is a reminder that our hospital is a place for care, comfort, and new life 💙

The lullaby was written in 1868 by Johannes Brahms and has been shared with families around the world for generations. Now, it will welcome newborns in our own community 🤍

We look forward to celebrating each birth in this special way ❤👶

Norfolk General Hospital has declared a COVID 19 outbreak on the 4B Complex Continuing Care Unit after seven patients tested positive.

Our team is taking proactive steps to keep everyone safe. We have put strong Infection Prevention and Control measures in place. These include isolating patients who are positive, increasing cleaning in the unit, completing contact tracing, and checking patients for symptoms on a regular basis.

Visitor access to 4B is limited for now. Essential Care Providers may still visit after speaking with the care team and are encouraged to wear a mask.

We kindly ask all visitors to stay home if they feel unwell. Even a mild cold or cough can spread easily in the hospital and may cause more serious illness for someone already receiving care.

We understand these changes can be difficult for families and loved ones. Thank you for your patience and kindness as we work to support a safe environment for everyone.

Our team is responding quickly to reduce the spread of the virus. We will share updates as more information becomes available.

A new Indigenous mural now welcomes everyone at our West Street entrance. 🧡

The artwork was created by Arnold Jacobs from Six Nations of the Grand River. It features animals that carry important Haudenosaunee teachings about the land, water, and sky. Each part of the mural reflects culture, meaning, and connection to the natural world.

We created this mural to help everyone who enters the hospital feel welcomed and supported. It also reflects our commitment to reconciliation and to strengthening care for Indigenous patients, families, staff, and visitors.

This project was supported by Jim and Marjorie Dawson, who believe in creating meaningful and welcoming spaces for our community. We are grateful for their support and for Arnold’s talent and teachings.

Norfolk General Hospital will continue to work with Indigenous partners to advance reconciliation and cultural safety.

Norfolk General Hospital, together with Grand Erie Public Health, has confirmed that the outbreak on our 3E Medical Unit has ended.

The outbreak began on November 13, 2025, and eight cases were identified. Our teams responded quickly and followed all safety steps to keep everyone protected.

The 3E Medical Unit is open again to visitors under our current visiting policy. Thank you to our patients and families for your patience and understanding.

A quick reminder that masks are strongly recommended in some areas of the hospital, including inpatient units and the Emergency Department. You can pick one up at any public entrance.

And if you’re feeling sick, please wait until you’re well before visiting a loved one. It’s a simple way to help keep everyone safe. ❤

Big news for our community. ❤

Norfolk General Hospital’s Laboratory Services Team has received the highest accreditation award from Accreditation Canada Diagnostics.

This accreditation is recognized around the world as a mark of excellence. 🏆

To achieve it, surveyors reviewed more than 420 requirements and looked closely at how our lab provides safe, accurate, and high-quality care. They observed daily work, spoke with staff and physicians, and examined key patient-safety practices.

Every test result helps physicians understand what is happening with a patient’s health. This support allows people to get timely care close to home.

Last year alone, the team completed more than 400,300 lab tests, each one helping guide safe and accurate care for patients across Norfolk County.

Much of the lab’s work happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt across the entire hospital. We would not be able to deliver care without them.

Congratulations to our Laboratory Services Team. Your dedication and expertise make a meaningful difference for the people we serve. 👏😁

Let the team know you appreciate their work by adding a message in the comments. 👇
