Thank you for this sign again today Grandma!
The dogs were staring at the front door so I went to look out.
How clearly I remember,
18 years ago today, my Mom had called to tell me my Grandma Telfer had passed away. Sometimes the phone rings, with a certain gravity, I walked to the front windows as I answered, I vividly recall a large, Rose of Sharon bloom, staring me in the face. A month early, a large bush, in the shade, loads of developing buds, but one precious flower, Grandma's favourite, right in my face. 10 bushes on the property and no other blossoms burst forth until August!! Thank you for that message, July 8th 2007!
I was so incredibly blessed with a large assortment of grandparents, great and great great grandparents, but I was particularly close to this one.
I credit her with my love of nutrition, reading, patience, compassion, thoughtfulness, perseverance and my spiritual mentor.
It was from her that this concept of the importance of moderation and balance first began to resonate with me. It was from an article she clipped from the Hamilton Spectator, that my baby boy's ear infections, might have a dairy allergy behind them!
Thank you for being you in that quiet but very present manner, and all the love you shone on us.
