The opening of the Blossoming Collection at the was so beautiful 🌸🌿
I’m still processing the day.
My mom, Auntie Joan, my Uncle Kevin and his wife Melanie, my oldest and youngest kids, Rob… and so many people who came, saw, witnessed, and were part of the opening.
At one point, a friend I haven’t seen in nearly 25 years casually strolled into the gallery like it was just a normal day. I could barely pick my jaw up off the ground.
I stood in front of a large group of people and spoke out loud… without crying.
As I walked away from the podium, both of my kids had huge smiles on their faces and each gave me a fist pump—which is pretty high praise.
I honestly couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. I’m still feeling so uplifted.
Gilakas’la 🌸🌿
And thank you to from for accepting my invite and taking these beautiful photos… because I didn’t take a single one. 🌸🌿

Who would have thought my work would be featured in ? Definitely not the little girl in the second slide.
Back then, this dream felt far too big to even imagine… and now, here we are.
I’m so grateful to for taking the time to share my work and for the incredibly kind words.
Seeing the Blossoming Collection having its moment to shine brings me so much joy. 🌸✨
Sometimes the dreams we’re afraid to say out loud are the ones waiting for us.

A new exhibition spotlights the Indigenous artist, who is a member of the Kwakwaka'wakw Nation in British Columbia. "Our relationship to regalia and adornment is deeply ceremonial, familial, and tied to lineage," says Gentry.

Cedar 🌿 and Blueberry 🫐custom made Cork Moose hide wraps with Vibram soles👣✨

Life is so full, and I have very teeny tiny windows available for beading or moccasin making these days, but when those moments present themselves… it feels like such a gift. I forgot how meditative this practice is for me.

My shop is still closed while tariffs are in effect. I hope to move my site so I can re-open my shop in CAD, but this feels like a bigger job than I have capacity for at this time.

So for now…I will continue taking orders via my custom order form on my site, which also contains all the pricing and info needed to begin working with me to bring your moccasin vision to life👣✨

The Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art presents 'Jamie Gentry: Blossoming'. On view from February 28 – May 24, 2026.

🔴 Opening Reception I February 28, 12–3 pm I Free Admission 🔴

This solo exhibition spotlights the work of Jamie Gentry, a Kwakwaka’wakw artist based on Vancouver Island, whose practice is rooted in patience, precision, and deep personal meaning. On view is a striking series of moccasins, each entirely handmade and adorned with intricate, lifelike floral beadwork that reflects both technical mastery and reverence for the natural world.

For more than twelve years, Jamie has created moccasins by hand, often collaborating with clients through highly customized beadwork. In this exhibition, however, she turns inward, creating solely for herself rather than for sale. These works mark a powerful shift in her practice: a journey of self-discovery, growth, and the deliberate act of making art as a gift of joy to oneself.

The exhibition also features large-format photographs that place the moccasins within the landscapes that inspired them, offering a poetic dialogue between object and environment. Together, the works invite viewers to consider care, intention, and the beauty that emerges when creativity is guided by personal freedom.
