I have had this experience where something that I said in jest, was taken seriously, and the other person got very quiet and awkward. I did apologize later on as it is never my intention to say anything hurtful. After when I was thinking about it, I was a little put off at the fact that I felt the need to apologize for being open and honest in a joking manner. In analyzing the situation, I realized that what I had said, triggered this person.
Sometimes we are put in situations to be a guiding light for others. It might not always be sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes it’s being called out on your own bu****it. It’s hard when that happens, though. I have been on the receiving end of that. But in the long run, I am grateful for the opportunity to acknowledge something that I need to work on. Healing isn’t always easy.
Since then, this person has stepped into their power more and has implemented boundaries with people. I’m so proud of the person I see them becoming.
