Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services

Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services Vision Statement:
Maamwesying kina gweya n'minobimaadizing
Working as one for the wellbeing of all

Our vision aptly describes how Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services Board of Directors oversee both N'Mninoeyaa Aboriginal Health Access Centre (AHAC) and the Baawaating Family Health Team to deliver quality primary and therpeutic health care to all individuals in its member communities as well as the urban aboriginal population residing in the City of Sault Ste Marie. Our health board consists of three (3) First Nation Chief and Council members who also serve as the Executive Committee for Mamaweswen, The North Shore Tribal Council. We provide services on an outreach and collaborative basis to:
Seven (7) First Nation communities along the North Shore
Four (4) First Nation communities in the Chapleau/Wawa area
One (1) Indian Friendship Centre (SSM)
through our N'Mninoeyaa AHAC. We also manage Baawaating Family Health Team, which provides services primarily to our off reserve population residing in Sault Ste Marie, as well as to any non-Aboriginal local residents.

Join us on December 1, 2025 from 12:30-1:30pm EST for the free webinar, 'Supporting One's Journey Into the Spirit World'.

Launched in July 2025, in collaboration between the SE Health First Nations, Inuit and Metis Program and Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services, 'Supporting One's Journey Into the Spirit World: Indigenous CareGiver Skills Video Series' is a series of 10 skills-based demonstration video resources available in English, French and Ojibway along with careguides for caregivers. The videos were filmed with Elders and Knowledge Keepers who share a deep love, compassion and respect for the ways of living and caring for each other that have always been a core cultural value and practice. Join us on December 1st to learn how it all came together.

This project was funded by the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer.

Update: Voting is now closed. We are excited to share with you the chosen logo concept once it's gone through its refinement stages. A new website is also on the horizon!

🌟 Help Shape Maamwesying’s New Look! 🌟

We’re excited to share that Maamwesying is undergoing a rebranding initiative β€” and we want you, our community, to be part of the journey. We’ve been working with an Indigenously and women-owned creative agency, Design de Plume, to develop logo concepts that reflect our values, identity, and future vision.

Now it’s time to hear from you! Vote for the logo concept that resonates most with you and/or the way you feel Maamwesying connects with our communities.

Your voice matters. Once the final logo is chosen, we’ll be unveiling even more updates β€” including a brand new website designed with our community in mind.
