ADHD - something most of us have heard of but something not a lot of people have a deep understanding of. We often think of the kid who can't sit still, who always interrupts everyone, and who is constantly causing teachers grief in class. What we don't often hear about though is the little girl who maladaptively daydreams all day, or the adult who cannot seem to start important tasks even though they want to and know they have to. New group alert!
Table-Top Role-Playing Games (RPG's) are imaginative and cooperative games that groups of people can play together in person or using online platforms. The players are led by a Dungeon Master (DM) of Game Master (GM), who guides the story and helps establish and hold the rules of the group. Using RPGs in counselling allows clients to role play as their chosen characters and experience the world through another's perspective. While at the same time, we as practitioners can see how clients create new relationships and interact with the world and non-player characters in a safe environment. With proper debriefing, the group can explore how their actions affect their situation and the people around them, being used as a tool to teach appropriate social skills or consequences of behaviours. Players will be given the opportunity to explore role-playing through stories and character interactions. They will be provided with puzzles to solve and play combat experiences that promote teamwork and communication while moving the story forward and exploring their new roles.

When: Sundays from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
Start date: TBD based upon registration
Where: Anagram Board Game Cafe - 40 South Ave Unit 5, Spruce Grove, AB T7X 3A6
Ages: 11+
Cost: $300 for 6 weeks (paymen due upon registration acceptance)

I am currently open to taking new clients! I am keen to work with youth, LGBT+ community members, and forensic populations. I can help with mood issues, anxiety, ADHD, problematic and intrusive thoughts, trauma, and lifestyle changes. I work within CBT(cognitive behavior therapy), DBT(dialectic behavior therapy), ACT(acceptance and commitment therapy), BRIEF, and Motivational Interviewing.

I can provide online services, or in person therapy at my West End or Sherwood Park offices. I can accept debit, credit, e-transfer, and have the ability to direct bill certain insurance companies.
