Do you love having your hair washed at the salon?

I know I do, the scalp massage is absolutely the best part!

Indian Head massage is a fully clothed massage of the head, neck, shoulders, arms and upper back.

I use firm but gentle techniques to reduce tension, relieve physical and emotional stress, and create a sense of blissful calm.

From April 1st you can choose to add an Indian Head massage to a bo***ir photography session with Pretty as a picture Photography and curate your own bespoke retreat experience.

All you have to do is take a seat! ❤️

I just started working on this piece.

As a child I would drive my family crazy leaving art supplies and a trail of paper, glue and glitter as I went!

Do you have art wounds? Teachers who told you that you couldn't draw, couldn't paint couldn't make, couldn't create.

Art can be a vulnerable process.
Art can be healing.
Art can be self expression.
Art can be fun!

Make.
Do.
Create.
Explore.

You get to decide what that looks like for you. You are an artist and creator when you do. ❤️

"We read to know we're not alone." William Nicholson

March book The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. A story of a science professor who displays many traits associated with Asperger's, he struggles with social situations and is on the hunt for a wife.

It was such an enjoyable and easy read that I'm already done! March is going to be a two book month!

This book is a fun, sweet and hopeful love story. A perfect feelgood read!

Do you love a pocket?

Historically pockets equate to freedom, so in the 17th century only men got pockets!

Women had small cloth bags under layers of petticoats, more like a bag and not as accessible. Over time men were more likely to carry money and necessities, and women's purses started to be seen as a status symbol.

It wasn’t until WWII that women got pockets because they were working in job roles previously held by men. So when the war ended so did our pockets!

I'm not sure how true the witch thing is but I really do love a pocket! I like big POCKETS! ❤️

Warrior woman.

International Women's Day is coming up and there's lots of celebration and collaboration happening.

It's a weird one for me, I love being a woman but it's also the reason I feel like I'm dying on an unreasonably frequent basis. I can't count the number of times my hubby has demanded enough is enough and surely we need to go to hospital as I'm trying to breath through blinding pain.

Do you ever thank the universe for making you a complete badass? What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. But honestly I'm a warrior and I don't need to be any stronger at this point thanks very much! 😂

I love being able to connect with other women, share my experience and help them find peace and joy. I love expressing myself through clothes and makeup. I love my soprano singing voice. I love my relationships with the women in my life, especially my Mama.

What do you love about being a woman?

Book review 📚

February's book was The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta.

An enjoyable read, part mystery part fantasy, set in a world where people disappear all at once and for no apparent reason.

Some people try to go on and live their lives, others join bizarre cultish societies to try find some meaning in what happened.

This book kept me interested, I was invested in the outcome for some of the characters. There's no real resolution, it's open ended, probably ripe for a sequel or for an imagined ending of your choosing.

Their lives just carry on. What would you do if people you knew and loved just disappeared into thin air?

Stand your ground.

Do you find it easy to set boundaries?

If something doesn't feel good, if it leaves you feeling awkward, uncomfortable, angry or hurt, it's probably a good time to set some boundaries.

"If you want to live an authentic, meaningful life, you need to master the art of disappointing and upsetting others, hurting feelings, and living with the reality that some people just won’t like you. It may not be easy, but it’s essential if you want your life to reflect your deepest desires, values, and needs." Cheryl Richardson

✨ Decide what your values are.
✨ Give yourself permission to set boundaries.
✨ Communicate what your level of tolerance is.
✨ Know your limits.
✨ Make self care a priority.
✨ Connect with your intuition, or gut feeling.
✨ Seek support where needed.
✨ Practice, the more you do it the easier it becomes.
✨ Do what makes you feel good.
✨ Be honest and direct.

Make your boundaries about you and your values rather than about the other person, that way you'll always know who you are and what you stand for ❤️

I'm 40 this year.

Do ever think, wow where did the time go?? I almost can't believe it! When I was a child my Dad would often say that times seems to go faster as you get older, and that does seem true!

I had a period of about 8 to 10 years, the TTC years and the aftermath of fertility treatments, where I was really put through the wringer. The grieving period (which I had no idea was grieving at the time) was deep and wide.

I could easily consider them wasted. All that time gone with nothing to show for it.

But what if that time was the making of me? It certainly changed me, and I get to decide if that change was for better or worse.

I plan to celebrate my 40th year with gratitude and joy, and certainly bo***ir! My last session was magical, and I know my next shoot will be filled with fun, silliness and testament to me embracing who I've become. Celebrating my own damn self for getting through the hard times and living to tell the tale.

Bo***ir tells a story of who you are and who you're becoming. I'm becoming 40 with a hell yes!

Morning sunshine!

Which do you love most a glorious sunrise or a stunning sunset? 🌄🌇

There's something magical about a pink sunrise, such hope for the future.

I might be crabby and sleepy but then seeing this, how can you not take a deep breath and be grateful?

"Every sunrise gives us the opportunity to begin again with the morning lights of love, with the power of persistence and with the magic of gratitude." Debasish Mridha

Sunrise fills me with joy, the gift of a new day! Have a beautiful day! ❤️
