Marieta Akalski Massage Therapy

Marieta Akalski Massage Therapy Registered Massage Therapist in beautiful Squamish. "As a professional hockey player, training is an essential part of my summer schedule.

With 15+ years of experience , my massage therapy approach is designed to target the root cause of the clients discomfort by having an individualized massage treatment plan. Taking care of my body pre-and post-workouts / skates is just as important. Marieta's skills ensure that my body is ready to perform at an elite level all the time. Whether it was a pre-workout fascial stretch or a post workout recovery massage / acupuncture session, my body always felt great. Her background as an athlete helps her understand the grind on your body as you prepare for an upcoming season. I look forward to working with Marieta again as I continue to strive to be the best athlete I can be."

About Marieta:
Marieta Akalski is a Squamish based Sports Massage Therapist with 10 years of experience in sports injury rehabilitation and prevention. As a former Canadian Team athlete herself, it’s no surprise that Marieta’s passion lies in working with athletes to speed up recovery, prevent and/or rehab their injuries. Marieta changed her career path from Finance to Massage Therapy as a result of two very different factors. First, Marieta grew up being a competitive rock climber, competing for Team Canada internationally where she rehabbed from many of the common injuries climbers experience when training at high levels. Second, her sedentary desk job lifestyle caused her to experience back and neck pain, hip stiffness, tension headaches, and many other dysfunctions. In order to cope, Marieta saw every health care practitioner she could, and found Massage Therapy provided the best results for her. Although she greatly enjoys working with athletes, Marieta’s goal with her Massage Therapy practice in Squamish, is to help everyone live the life they want to live by reducing their discomforts. Whether you sprained an ankle, knee, or wrist; strained your groin, hamstring, bicep, or rotator cuff; have back, neck or hip pain; or are having migraines or tension headaches, Marieta is here to help assess the root cause of your pain or discomfort and help you move in the right direction. Trained under some of the most respected Sports Medicine Chiropractors and MD’s, Marieta has worked with professional and elite amateur athletes for 8 years. She’s worked with the Toronto Blue Jays, consulted with the NHL, NBA and MLB players, and now primarily works with runners, mountain bikers, kiteboarders, skiers, snowboarders, ironman athletes and elite rock climbers. She moved from Toronto to Squamish for the lifestyle this beautiful growing town has to offer. Professional Sports Massage Therapy Experience:
- Sports Massage Therapist - NHL players at the Gary Roberts High
Performance Centre
- Sports Massage Therapist – Toronto Blue Jays
- Sports Massage Therapist - Canadian National Diving Championships
- Sports Massage Therapist - Canadian Climbing Team at Bouldering World Cup
- Sports Massage Therapist - Host Medical - 2015 Pan Am Games

We live in a strange world with many stressors in 2020. To be able to escape from reality just for a day with no cell service, but instead deep in the mountains and glacial lakes is priceless. Mountain therapy at its best! Who else needs some of this in their life? 🙋🏻‍♀️

Here are basic but extremely important things you can do to prevent your neck from hurting all the time!
