Protecting the restricted activity of prescribing Chinese Herbs is for the purpose of ensuring public safety & maintaining professional standards. The new Health Professionals & Occupations Act (HPOA) will remove this protection to allow unregulated persons to prescribe/sell Chinese Herbs which could lead to injuries as well as undermining the practice & eroding trust in the profession of TCM.
TCM Professionals: Your Voice Matters — Attend January 6
The regulation of Traditional Chinese Medicine herbal prescribing in British Columbia is at a critical crossroads. Recent changes under our new Regulations that fall under the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA) would remove prescribing, compounding, and dispensing of Chinese herbal medicine as a restricted activity—putting public safety, professional standards, and the future of our profession at risk.
We are calling on TCM practitioners, educators, students, and allies to stand together and advocate for maintaining regulated herbal practice.
