With COVID-19 we've had to postpone many large celebrations of life's' for families. These times can be even tougher for families having to wait to hold a service for their loved one. It just compounds more grief on their loss.

These are trying times and our family and staff are here to help. We're adapting to meet different services that can allow families to come together (small groups/online) and to provide a chance to grieve and mourn. If you have any questions on how we're adapting to the COVID pandemic, please do not hesitate to contact us.

COVID-19 Letter from Owners/ McKenzie Family:

During this stressful and unconventional time, we wanted to update everyone on how we’re adapting and moving forward here at Squamish Funeral Chapel. With lots of news and regulations changing on a daily basis, please know that our funeral home is open and our family and staff are here to assist anyone who requires our services.

The safety and well being of our citizens is our top priority, thus we have set the following guidelines to meet the needs of families that we serve that are consistent with the Provincial Authorities.

1) Daily cleaning and disinfecting of all areas of our business. Every day we’re doing regular cleaning for our facilities. We’ve also enlisted a local cleaning company to help with maintaining a safe and clean environment).

2) If you’re in need of our services, we’re available by phone 24/7. You will always speak to one of our funeral directors/family members when you call.

3) Arrangements can be made by the following methods: In-person (limited to max 3 people per meeting, and 6 feet social distancing), by phone, email, or we offer the use of facetime/skype arrangements in our office.

4) Limiting gatherings/ small groups/ online services: We do offer webcasting and recording services for those who cannot attend a celebration of life/funeral and graveside ceremonies. If there are services that require large gatherings, we will look into ways of postponing the service or provide online services for those families.

5) We have designated handwashing stations and hand sanitizers for families needing to come to our funeral home. Free pens will also be provided to reduce any cross-contamination.

We understand that with the COVID pandemic that these times are trying and even more difficult for those in our community who lose a loved one. Thus, we’re doing our best to adapt and meet the needs of our families.

In the last week, we have been in contact with several families who had previously arranged Celebrations of Life Services and Memorials for the upcoming weeks. Many of these services have been temporarily postponed until a further date. We encourage those who planned to attend to refer back to our webpage and the online memorial pages we’ve set up for the deceased for future date information as it becomes available.

If you’re sick/showing symptoms, we ask that you do not attend our funeral home or any services and to either contact a local health official and to self-isolate. Arrangements can be made to view a service via recording or webcasting.
If you have any questions, concerns, or need further information we encourage you to call us. We’re here to help.

Thank you for your time, stay safe, and we will get through this together.

Sincerely,

The McKenzie Family
