She Wore Flowers in Her Hair An event in support of mental health awareness. Our aim is to raise awareness, spread love and create a safe community to talk about mental health.

On June 4th, Kelburn Estates Health & Wellness Retreat (1293 Kelburn Rd.) presented the first annual 'She Wore Flowers in Her Hair', an event in support of mental health awareness in honour of Jaedra Winter, who was lost to suicide in June 2015. Ticket prices included access to all activities, a free lunch graciously donated by Pony Corral, as well and a rubber wrist band! Over 100 T-shirts were sold at the event. Activities included many performances, speakers and activities planned throughout the day, which are listed below! Bands:

Moksha Yoga - Volleyball Tournament - Flower Crown Workshop - LumberJax Axe Throwing - Kids Activities - Silent Auction - Sending You Strength - Stay Alive Clothing - Henna - Faceprinting - Petal Launch ... and many more!

All proceeds from the event were donated to Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba (MDAM), which offers many programs to individuals and groups aiming to increase awarenesss and understanding of mood disorders.

Our aim is to raise awareness, spread love, and create a community where you can feel safe taking about your mental health and we need YOU to help us start the conversation! Some of the messages I get from a graphic like this, shows how much this message is needed. A reminder that we never know the depths of what it may take for some to get through the holidays, let alone year round. 🩷 these post always get crazy traction, some positive some not. This isn’t a debate on medication, this is a reminder that you never know what others are going through. Shame is not going to make someone’s mental health magically be “better”.

Medication can be a bridge and it also is 100% not for everyone. Two things can be true.
