Let’s change the narrative: therapy isn’t just for when things fall apart — it’s for learning how to thrive. Talking to someone about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences can be one of the most powerful steps you take for your well-being.

Therapy isn’t a sign that something is “wrong” with you.
It’s a sign that you’re willing to care for your mind the same way you care for your body.

It’s choosing growth.
It’s choosing understanding.
It’s choosing yourself.

At The Calm Place, we believe conversations can be healing. Our therapists are here to listen, support, and walk alongside you — wherever you are in your journey. Because seeking support isn’t weakness. It’s courage. 🌿

Today, we’re shining a light on Claire LeDrew, BSW, MSW, RSW, one of the thoughtful and compassionate therapists here at The Calm Place.

Claire supports clients navigating anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, chronic pain, and emotional regulation. She has extensive experience working with post-secondary students and individuals with disabilities, and is passionate about creating spaces where people feel truly understood.

Her work draws from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based practices—all grounded in self-compassion and a strengths-based perspective.

Claire believes therapy works best when it’s collaborative. She strives to create an inclusive, trauma-informed space where you feel seen, heard, and accepted, and where your voice guides the process.

When she’s not in session, you’ll likely find Claire spending time with her dogs, reading a good book, or getting creative with crafts.

If you’re looking for supportive, thoughtful guidance as you navigate life’s challenges, Claire may be a wonderful fit for your journey.

Your nervous system doesn’t learn safety in isolation.
It learns it in the presence of other regulated humans.

This is called co-regulation — and it’s one of the most powerful parts of healing.

Sometimes, regulation looks like:
• A calm tone that softens your guard
• A steady presence that tells your body it’s okay to stay
• Breathing in rhythm with others around you
• Feeling seen without needing to explain everything

Your nervous system quietly takes notes: “Maybe I’m safe here.” This is why healing spaces matter.

Whether you're finding calm through counselling, holistic practice, or grounding yourself on a yoga mat beside others, your body is learning something new.

At The Calm Place, we intentionally create spaces where your nervous system doesn’t have to do it alone - because healing isn’t just about coping. Sometimes it's about borrowing safety until your body remembers how to hold it on its own.

Before the degrees.
Before the training.
Before the work we do today.

There were kids who were learning about the world, navigating big feelings, building empathy, and growing into the people they would become.

And today, those kids grew up to become the clinicians, specialists, and wellness guides who sit with others in their hardest moments.

Because behind every therapist, counsellor, social worker, and wellness practitioner…
There was once a child learning how to care deeply about people.

We love the humans behind the work here at The Calm Place — and today we’re celebrating where they started. 💜

Sometimes what looks like “overreacting” is actually your nervous system trying to protect you.

When your system has learned to stay on high alert, everyday situations can feel bigger, heavier, and harder to navigate.

Here are a few signs your nervous system might be in survival mode:
▫️ You shut down in conflict
Your system may interpret disagreement as a threat, triggering a freeze response to protect you.
▫️ You get overwhelmed easily
When your nervous system is already working overtime, even small stressors can feel like too much.
▫️ You feel constantly “on edge”
Your body stays in a state of alert, scanning for danger even when things seem safe.

These aren’t character flaws. They’re nervous system responses. And the good news?

With the right support and regulation practices, your nervous system can learn that it’s safe to soften.

💬 Which one of these resonates with you?
