Happy Thanksgiving!
This is a day filled with gratitude. We love this practice not just because of all the feels, but the added bonus is that gratitude is also a Brain Changer.
We love this time of year and the positives it can bring. There are numerous reasons to fully embrace the practice of gratitude and giving thanks. It can help us stop and reframe our lives to see the positives. This changes our brains and the lives of the people around us. It also helps make social connections and reduce anxiety.

Whole-Hearted Eating - Our New Holistic Healing Program for

Emotional Eating Is Accepting Clients! This therapeutic program offers a fresh perspective on reevaluating your relationship with food and your body.

For some of us, we feel so tightly caught in emotional eating cycles that it is hard to see a way out. I have so many conversations with people who have said to me, "For me, food is like a drug. I think that my relationship with food is like how an alcoholic drinks alcohol. I feel addicted. I feel caught in this emotional eating & shame cycle. I use food to cope, but I don't want to use food to cope, and then I feel shame about it."

When we slow down and compassionately take the time to explore what is happening under the emotional eating cycle, solutions start to emerge. When we practice becoming more curious and less furious about the aspects of ourselves that drive our emotional eating, clarity about how to move forward begins to emerge.

There is no way to slice it; food and emotions are deeply intertwined for humans. We are all emotional eaters to some degree. Just think about it. The first day you were born, in your first moments of distress, someone offered you milk. As soon as we had that first sip of milk, biologically, this is what happened: the love hormone oxytocin filled your brain, and you felt safe and cared for. Then came the reinforcement neurotransmitter dopamine, ensuring that you would seek food again because it felt good, and your survival depended on it.

When we slow down and compassionately take the time to explore what is happening under the emotional eating cycle, solutions start to emerge. When we practice becoming more curious and less furious about the aspects of ourselves that drive our emotional eating, clarity about how to move forward begins to emerge.

One of the pillars of healing from Emotional Overeating or Binge Eating is turning inward and getting to know those parts of us that are driving our emotional overeating cycles. Here is the thing: we all have parts that talk to us about our well-being, and all these parts of us are good. How could they be bad? They are a part of you!

Here is a classic example of an emotionally driven overeating cycle. Does this sound familiar?

A part of me is eating cake because I just received disappointing news. At the same time, another part of me says, "What are you doing? Eating the cake is not part of your wellness plan!" And we continue to eat, maybe even have a second slice. Then our inner critic enters, giving us a heavy dose of shame about what just happened. Then, the part that thinks food restriction is the answer shows up and says, "Tomorrow only vegetables, water and you must make time for a workout! The inner critic joins with the restrictive part and gives you a big bump of nasty, mean things about us being an unmotivated ass that only makes mistakes.
