From winter prep to a fall harvest!

This past winter, our residents tried winter sowing — a creative outdoor seed-starting method that uses recycled containers as mini-greenhouses! 🌱

Seeds are planted in containers, which are then left outside during winter to undergo a natural cold stratification. When spring arrives, the seeds germinate naturally, and the seedlings emerge already acclimated to the outdoors, eliminating the need for grow lights, heat mats, or the hardening-off process.

Those seedlings were later transferred to our garden beds, lovingly cared for all summer, and have now rewarded us with a beautiful harvest of fruits and veggies!

October 1 is National Seniors Day.

At The Residence at Littledale, every day we are inspired by the wisdom, resilience, and stories of the incredible seniors who call our community home.

Today, we recognize the contributions of seniors — to their families, to their communities, and to society as a whole.

It is an honour to celebrate and support them, not only today, but every day. 💙

Today, September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Also known as Orange Shirt Day, today recognizes the impacts of our history with residential schools, missing children and the families and survivors of these institutions.

Today, and everyday, we honour the children who never returned home, their families and communities. Together, we can work towards building an inclusive future rooted in understanding, respect, and healing.

September is Arthritis Awareness Month.

Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in Canada, impacting over 6 million people of all ages. It’s more than just aches and pains—it can affect mobility, independence, and quality of life.

This month, we’re joining the movement to raise awareness, break the stigma, and support those living with arthritis every day.

Today, September 13, is World First Aid Day.

This year’s theme, “First Aid and Climate Change,” highlights the increasing impact of extreme weather events—such as floods, wildfires, and heatwaves—and the vital role first aid plays in creating safer, more resilient communities.

At The Residence at Littledale, our team members are trained in first aid and CPR, giving residents peace of mind that they’ll receive an appropriate and timely response should the need ever arise.

👏 Today, we recognize the importance of these lifesaving skills—and the dedicated people who use them to keep others safe.
