This month, we’re recognizing two people who show what it really means to find a better way.

Laya Heidari Darani brings calm, patience, and consistency into every shift. She handles tough moments with care, supports kids through challenges, and still finds ways to make the space feel positive and safe. Her teammates feel it, and so do the kids.

Laya has chosen to donate her $100 Core Values Award to the Janeway Hospital.

Kennedy Raye Barrault leads with heart and intention. She keeps kids at the center of every decision, builds strong relationships within her team, and creates an environment where people feel supported to do their best work. She turns challenges into real improvements and lifts everyone around her.

Kennedy has chosen to donate her $100 Core Values Award to Kids Eat Smart Foundation, because she believes every child should have access to healthy food.

Two different strengths. One shared impact.

Thank you, Laya and Kennedy, for showing up the way you do every day. 💚

We are proud to recognize the impact he makes through his work and the example he sets for others. It was so great to see his team show up to celebrate this award!

Today we celebrated International Women’s Day by hosting a Women Empowerment virtual session focused on this years theme “Give to Gain”.

The session featured meaningful conversations from employees around leadership, mentorship, the global perspective of celebrating "international women", and the power of women supporting women.

A reminder that when women rise together, communities rise with them.

Yesterday, we celebrated our Western employees who reached years-of-service milestones in 2025, along with our Core Values Award winners.

These recognitions reflect the dedication, compassion, and commitment our employees bring to their work every day. It was a great opportunity to acknowledge the impact they make in the lives of the people and communities we serve.

Congratulations to all of our milestone recipients and Core Values Award winners. We are proud to celebrate you and grateful for everything you bring to Brightisle.

Brightisle was proud to sponsor Quorum 2026: TAKING CARE, hosted by Quadrangle NL this past weekend at the Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University.

The conference brought together community leaders, healthcare providers, researchers, and organizations to explore how equity can be placed at the center of health systems and the future of care.

Shannon Driscoll, Healthcare Services Coordinator, and Jennifer Brown, Nurse Practitioner with Parallel Health, attended and took part in the conversations alongside many others working to strengthen healthcare in our communities.

Thank you to Quadrangle NL for creating space for these important discussions.

We’re proud to recognize our second Find a Better Way Core Values Award recipient for February, Nkechinyere.

When her client was struggling, Nkechinyere didn’t settle for “this is just how it is.” She took the time to understand their triggers, communication style, and strengths. She adjusted the approach, introduced individualized strategies, and helped reduce behavioural incidents while improving her client’s engagement.

She saw what wasn’t working and chose to do something about it.

That is what finding a better way looks like.

Thank you, Nkechinyere, for the care, thoughtfulness, and commitment you bring to your work every day.

Across the province, our teams wore pink to stand against bullying and stand for kindness, respect, and inclusion.

Coffee? Check.
Hot chocolate? Check.
Essential care workers getting safely to work? Absolutely.

In health and community care, our employees don’t get snow days, and neither does our commitment to them. Throughout the storm, our teams connected and supported one another in different ways, including helping ensure some of our front-line team members had a safe drive to and from work, so our clients could continue receiving the care they rely on.

A big shoutout to our scheduling team, too — the steady hands behind the scenes who keep everything running, no matter the conditions.

We’re proud of the way our people look out for each other and grateful to all essential workers across our province who show up every day for the people who need them most. 💙
