As a team committed to improving care and strengthening communities across Newfoundland and Labrador, staying connected to new ideas is essential. Last week, our marketing team joined the HeyOrca Community Summit to learn from local creators, storytellers, and community builders.

Community is at the centre of everything we do, including the 1,400+ employees who make up the Brightisle family. The conversations around innovation, technology, and people-first work were a meaningful reminder of why community matters in every part of our organization.

Thank you to HeyOrca for bringing so many voices together. We’re heading back inspired and ready to put what we learned into practice.

Good news for anyone applying for a role at Brightisle. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has introduced a new online criminal record check system that makes the process faster and easier.

Applicants can now complete the entire request online, track their status, and receive their finished record check digitally. This means quicker turnaround times for those applying!

If you’ve been waiting to complete your record check, this update makes the process much more convenient.

The RNC has implemented a new criminal record check system that simplifies the application process and reduces wait times.

Applications can be submitted online in just a few short minutes. The new service allows users to create a profile, track the status of their application, and once complete, provides checks for download with two-factor authentication to share with requesting agencies directly. The new process has significantly reduced processing times because of the shift from traditional mail.

Applicants may still be required to attend in person for fingerprints as part of a vulnerable sector check and will be advised as part of the application process.

The online application service is available 24 hours a day from anywhere in Canada, providing a convenient and accessible option to request a record check. There are still traditional mail and drop-off options for those who cannot apply online.

Those who have outstanding applications need not re-apply.

This service is available to those who reside in RNC jurisdiction which includes residents of; Bauline, Churchill Falls, Conception Bay South, Corner Brook, Cox’s Cove, Flatrock, Gillams, Humber Arm South, Hughes Brook, Irishtown-Summerside, Labrador City, Lark Harbour, Little Rapids, Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove, Massey Drive, McIvers, Meadows, Mount Moriah, Mount Pearl, Paradise, Pasadena, Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove, Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s, Pouch Cove, Steady Brook, St. John’s, Torbay, Wabush, and York Harbour.

Last Thursday on World Kindness Day, we dropped off food donations to the Community Food Sharing Association.

They play a vital role in our province by collecting and distributing food to over 60 food banks across Newfoundland and Labrador. Their work supports more than 15,000 people each year and helps make sure no one goes hungry.

We are grateful for everything they do for our communities. Thank you, Community Food Sharing Association, for the care and support you bring to families across NL.

Big congratulations to Joslyn Park, our Have Fun Core Values Award winner this month! ✨

Joslyn has a way of bringing joy into every day. Her coworkers say she is always ready with a laugh or a light-hearted prank, and she never misses a chance to make someone smile. The office feels brighter because of her, and she has built strong connections through her kindness, humour, and creativity.

She also brings that same spirit into the community by helping plan events, supporting families, and finding small ways to bring people together.

Joslyn is donating her $100 award to the Kids Eat Smart Program at Templeton Academy.

Thank you, Joslyn, for making work feel fun and welcoming for everyone around you.
