🎉Tomorrow Ascend Health turns TWO!
I thought about not posting anything for this one, but with everything going on in the world I think it’s important to celebrate the small wins. It’s the same thing we tell our clients every day.
This past year has been a big one. We’ve worked with everyone from professional athletes at their peak to grandparents keeping up with their grandkids. We’re lucky to do what we do and have some exciting things planned for year three.
Operating a small business is brutally hard. Even when things are going well. Nobody sees the long hours, the overwhelmed staff, and that “walking uphill both ways to school in a snowstorm” feeling every day.
That’s not the stuff you advertise or market, but it’s important to reflect on it. Behind every small business is a group of people working their asses off to make it look easy.
When we first opened, a friend who runs a local business said, “Congrats… now the work starts.” I laughed. I thought he was joking. After two years of planning and building a clinic from scratch, I was ready to hit cruise control. Turns out he wasn’t. Two years later, the grind is still real. Caffeine feels like a vitamin and sleep feels optional.
From two providers and two admin staff hoping someone would walk through the door to over twenty team members with a growing waitlist every week. It’s been one hell of a ride. As overwhelming as it is most of the time, I’m forever grateful for the opportunity.
“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”
To our admin team, healthcare and rehab providers, and everyone behind the scenes (Ryan Mac, Kayla, and Spencer) — a huge thank you. I feel incredibly lucky that you’ve all been part of this. To Mom, Dad, and Meg, I can’t thank you enough for the love and support.
To all the small business owners out there; whether you’re our industry competitors or otherwise, I have nothing but love and respect. I know this isn’t easy. Keep going. Keep building. Keep grinding.
Huge thank you to everyone who’s trusted us to help them reach their goals, whether that’s recovering, performing or just moving better.
Onwards & upwards,
Joe
