Still processing, integrating and sitting in awe of all the energy that moved and shifted and events that transpired during REWIRED!

This is what coming together in community is about, where momma’s and their littles are not just supported, but embraced, on their healing journey, where women who are anchoring the collective emotions of their homeland and lineage are freed, where women get to release feeling like they are their diagnosis, release that they are not worthy and reclaim their power fully and unapologetically.

Having a regulated nervous system doesn’t mean it never gets activated. It means you can keep your frontal lobe working it while you can feel the activation, the heart racing, talking faster, breathing heavier. I could label it as anxiety, but the reality is my nervous system is expanding. See the reframe?

I can make judgement calls without collapsing, I can get tasks done without snapping and falling apart. We need a little stress once in a while to light a fire under us, to stretch and grow our capacity. That’s how we continue to be able to expand the container, not by shrinking and running. This is life, this is integration. It’s doesn’t happen in the books you read and videos you watch, it happens here, in the day to day life that likes to throw curveballs.

I’m moments like this I take a moment make sure I get what I need first. To eat, to hydrate, to limit caffeine, to have a quick shower (my face is still red from it), to breath and check I have what I need before I leave to do the things, I stay present despite feeling all the things happening in my body. These are my tools so I can continue to expand through these moments.

I got this question in a recently and this is pertinent always. The best doctors are found in nature (aka free medicine, before it was called biohacking), here they are:

🌲Nature: yes it’s cold, bundle up and go outside, go hug a tree to physically ground, listening to the birds chirp signals safely in your nervous system. This also gets you moving and into your body.

💃🏼Movement: move your body! I don’t care how, just do (dance, shake, walk, yoga, lift heavy sh*t). Stuck energy creates stagnation, stagnation leads to depression, it’s a cycle. If you feel anxious go move that energy, basically keep moving, we are not meant to be sedentary creatures.

🫁Deep breathing: while you are outside, stop, close your eyes and take a few nice deep breaths, longer exhales signal safety to our nervous system, and/or go scream

🔥Release: find a way to let out your rage out in a safe, healthy way that is of no harm to you or others (punch a pillow, throw snowballs, let out a lot of F bombs in the car while you’re alone, find something that works for you)

🫧Stillness: in a world that wants us running and distracted all the time, allowing yourself to slow down, even if that means you do tasks more mindfully can shift your nervous system to a parasympathetic state. Which brings us to mindset

🧠Gratitude and reframing: “ I have to…” to “I get to…”

☀️Sunshine: yes, even through the hazy spray covered skies. Natural light, especially early morning sunrise and sunset light help regulate your circadian rhythm, which in turn help regular all other rhythms in your body.

💦Hydration: dehydration is a stress for your body, clean water helps detoxify your brain and body and supports fascial health and structure.

🍊Nourishment: eat real food as much as possible, take a few nice deep breathes to activate your vagus nerve, eat sitting down, mindfully with minimal distractions, bringing in the senses (sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch)

😴Sleep: set a regular sleep schedule as best as you can and stick to it. Your body, brain and nervous system heal while you sleep.

When the bucket gets full, you experience symptoms: anxiety, panic attacks, sleep and digestive issues, chronic pain and dis-eae. Allopathic medicine has two tools- pharmaceuticals and surgery. As a retired paramedic, I know there is a time and place for these, AND it’s not all the time, for everyone!

My practice is eclectic, shaped by my decades of training, experience and less than conventional path. I don’t do protocols (anymore 🚑) and that gives us freedom to support you how you need you to, and deserve to, be supported. With it come really incredible organ and life saving shifts back to health, not just symptom suppression.

Let’s talk TMJ, jaw clenching, grinding of your teeth, cheek tightness, even headaches. It’s never a simple straightforward answer, if it was the resolution would be simple and these issues would be quickly resolved. So I’m going to offer deep answers. The superficial, local layer is where most practitioners work, and it provides temporary relief. The next layer is the nervous system component and this is often chalked up to “stress”…less than helpful, right!? SomatoEmotional release is the deeper layer, the one often seen as too woo-woo, and yet, here we are still feeling the symptoms, because your fascia remembers all those times.

Full Moon forest walk gifted me fur. Mother Nature reminding me of the natural cycles of life, that something must die for others to live. That parts of ourselves get to die so that others can survive and thrive. Sometimes the simplest things have the deepest meanings.

There has been a lot coming up for me on this trip back in Canada around relationships and friendships. All the old versions of me that settled, that tolerated, that just wanted to help, at the cost of letting myself get betrayed and backstabbed as I swept aside the acts of “friends” and kept silent to keep the peace.

While I’ve walked away and processed the largest, deepest parts of it there are fragments of shrapnel in my heart from the hurt that still release once in a while. I am human too, and I navigate the messiness of this journey we call life. It would be easy to shut down, choose anger and hate (it is healthy to express these emotions without harm to self or others), but I refuse to harden my heart, because I am continually shown that the beauty of this world far exceeds the hate.

My heart has never been more open and fiercely boundaried at the same time. Integrity is everything. It starts with me honouring myself.

No more people pleasing, no more keeping the peace because we have history. If we can’t have kind honest conversations that invite us to grow, I’m out!

Yes, you need to remove yourself from environments that “broke you”, AND that alone will not help you heal, you actually need to become aware of the loops and patterns keeping your nervous system stuck AND then, make the changes, also known as integration. You can do all the reading, meditating, journaling, etc. if you never actually put that awareness into practice nothing changes. You just become more aware. That’s it!
