I got this question in a recently and this is pertinent always. The best doctors are found in nature (aka free medicine, before it was called biohacking), here they are:
🌲Nature: yes it’s cold, bundle up and go outside, go hug a tree to physically ground, listening to the birds chirp signals safely in your nervous system. This also gets you moving and into your body.
💃🏼Movement: move your body! I don’t care how, just do (dance, shake, walk, yoga, lift heavy sh*t). Stuck energy creates stagnation, stagnation leads to depression, it’s a cycle. If you feel anxious go move that energy, basically keep moving, we are not meant to be sedentary creatures.
🫁Deep breathing: while you are outside, stop, close your eyes and take a few nice deep breaths, longer exhales signal safety to our nervous system, and/or go scream
🔥Release: find a way to let out your rage out in a safe, healthy way that is of no harm to you or others (punch a pillow, throw snowballs, let out a lot of F bombs in the car while you’re alone, find something that works for you)
🫧Stillness: in a world that wants us running and distracted all the time, allowing yourself to slow down, even if that means you do tasks more mindfully can shift your nervous system to a parasympathetic state. Which brings us to mindset
🧠Gratitude and reframing: “ I have to…” to “I get to…”
☀️Sunshine: yes, even through the hazy spray covered skies. Natural light, especially early morning sunrise and sunset light help regulate your circadian rhythm, which in turn help regular all other rhythms in your body.
💦Hydration: dehydration is a stress for your body, clean water helps detoxify your brain and body and supports fascial health and structure.
🍊Nourishment: eat real food as much as possible, take a few nice deep breathes to activate your vagus nerve, eat sitting down, mindfully with minimal distractions, bringing in the senses (sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch)
😴Sleep: set a regular sleep schedule as best as you can and stick to it. Your body, brain and nervous system heal while you sleep.
