Many people suffer with jaw pain at some point during their life. The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) can be a source of that pain. Here are 5 tips to maintain a healthy TMJ:

1. Maintain a good posture with focus on keeping your ears in line with your shoulders;
2. Rest your tongue on the roof of your mouth behind your front teeth to prevent clenching;
3. When yawning, try to keep you tongue on the roof of your mouth;
4. Avoid clicking your jaw intentionally;
5. Cut your food into bite sized pieces, like steak, burgers, apples, etc.

If you suffer from jaw pain, we can help! Problems with the TMJ that lead to jaw pain are called TMD (temporomandibular dysfunction). We understand TMD, the pain in causes and how it impacts your day to day life.

Shovelling Tips!!!

If you have to tackle the snow that has fallen during the blizzard here are a few tips for shovelling :

1. Warm up your muscles - before you even venture outside do some light stretching and movement to warm up your muscles for the work that is ahead of you.

2. Pace yourself - you know your body best! You do not want to overexert yourself, take breaks and rest when required.

3. Lift with your legs, not your back - Make sure you bend your knees and use the muscles in your legs not your back when shovelling. If you can push the snow instead of lifting the snow, that is the best option!

4. Don’t overload your shovel - make sure you only load your shovel with an amount you are capable of lifting. If the load is too heavy, you will increase the risk of injury.

5. Stay hydrated - take breaks and drink water so that you remain hydrated while shoveling.
