🍋Preserved Lemons: My Go-To for Flavourful, Wholesome Meals 🍋

As a naturopath & nutritionist, I love ingredients that turn simple, nutrient-dense food into something crave-worthy, no processed sauces needed! 🤍

Preserved lemons are pure magic: naturally fermented with salt, they keep all the vitamin C and gut-loving benefits while giving you a zesty punch.

Ready in 5 mins + 4–6 weeks wait time. Lasts 6–12 months in the fridge. Here are my two favourites:

1. Classic Preserved Lemons (everyday hero) 🍋

Makes 1 litre jar
• 8–10 organic unwaxed lemons (I like Meyer lemons)
• 1½–2 cups coarse sea salt
• Optional: 2 bay leaves + 1 tsp peppercorns

☑️Quarter lemons (keep attached at base), rub generously with salt inside & out.

☑️Pack tightly into a sterilised jar, pressing to release juice. Top with extra salt + juice if needed.

☑️Seal, leave at room temp 3–7 days (burp daily), then fridge 4–6 weeks. Rinse before use if too salty.

2. Moroccan Spiced Version (next-level aromatic) 🫚
Same method + layer in these digestion-loving spices:

• 2 cinnamon sticks
• 2 star anise
• 1 tbsp cumin seeds
• 1 tbsp coriander seeds
• 4 cloves + 2 bay leaves + peppercorns

The spices infuse beautifully — perfect for tagines, roasted veg, chickpeas or fish. 💛

• Use organic everything.
• Keep lemons submerged under brine.
• A spoonful wakes up salads, meats, hummus & soups instantly!

Can you believe it… is spring almost here? 👀 Have you been outside today? 🌞

I swear I can feel the weight of winter becoming lighter. 😌

Living here in Newfoundland, we know winter can feel long, heavy, and a little isolating at times. So when the air starts to shift and the days get longer, it feels like the whole body takes a deeper breath.

For me, spring always brings a sense of new energy and fresh perspective. A season switch that creates space for growth, momentum, and reset. And from a health perspective, it’s actually the perfect time to refocus on your body.

🌿 Think of it like a little spring cleaning for your health 🌿
