Today we’re holding space for both World Social Justice Day while continuing to honour Black History Month.
Social justice isn’t a trending topic. It also isn’t a month of awareness that we put away again until next year. It’s the daily, steady work of removing barriers, redistributing opportunity, and reimagining systems so everyone belongs. It’s employment equity. It’s anti-racism. It’s disability justice. It’s intersectionality in action.
Black history reminds us that many of the rights and labour protections we rely on today were shaped by Black organizers, thinkers, and community leaders who pushed systems to bend toward fairness. Social justice reminds us that the work is not finished.
At Avalon Employment Inc. we believe inclusive employment is social justice in practice. When we create pathways for people with disabilities, when we challenge racism in workplaces, when we support employers to build cultures of belonging, we are not doing charity work. We are participating in systemic change.
This month and today especially, we recommit to advancing equity, and building workplaces where everyone belongs.
The work continues. And so do we. ✊🏾
