Fresh Yoga is the brain child of Alison "Fresh" Forster, daytime Radiation Therapist and fly by night yogini. Alison recently completed live-in yoga teacher training in classical Hatha yoga through the Canadian Yoga Alliance and is two online courses away from RYT-200hr certification. Blending the yin (passive) qualities of breath and mindfulness with the yang (active) qualities of a strong flow, Alison aims to create a class that "just feels good". All proceeds from classes will be used to support various charities and everyone is welcome.

Well folks the time has come. Time to feel the earth under your feet and sun on your face. Join me in Bannerman Park this Sunday the 27th at 1pm for a 90min Yoga in the Park. Meeting spot to be announced later this week. Mats are not necessary but I will bring some extras in case people want one and don't have access. If you have a yoga block however, please bring one. VIPARITA KARANI - If I could only recommend one pose to beginner yogis this would be it. It's not a strength builder or a joint opening pose yet it has tremendous benefits. This is the *perfect* pose for those who work on their feet all day. Technically a "mudra" or energy seal, this pose carries similar benefits to headstand such as improved venous blood return, which in turn slows the heart rate and relaxes the heart, aids in the transport of nutrients to the brain and prevents varicose veins. When a bolster or cushion is used as shown this pose also does wonders for the lower back. And while the practitioner is receiving all these benefits, she/he can also practice mindfulness, improving concentration and emotional regulation. Enjoy!
