{next Mom & Baby Postnatal Yoga starts Thursday, October 30 @ 1:15pm}

“We were 7 weeks postpartum when the spring session began - just starting to navigate the world together. There is just a special type of peace that I felt as a new Mom being in your class. The gentle and rejuvenating class was exactly what I needed and helped me get out of the house. Some days Arthur wanted to feed most of class and when he did I always felt so present and happy in the moment with my new babe, even with other babies cooing and crying, sometimes it felt like it was only me and Arthur in the room.

After summer with no yoga class we were so excited to get back, Arthur was now 6 months old and we had so much fun. Reflecting back to the spring, we were so new and gentle - I remember watching the moms with the older babies balancing them on their legs, I wasn’t comfortable doing that. So when we were doing it in class in the fall, I felt so much joy - seeing Arthur’s big smile and giggles that he hadn’t had in the spring. It was amazing to experience this class as a “brand new” Mom and again when we are now so comfortable as mother and son”.

Ease back into movement and reconnect with your body through our 5-week Mom & Baby Postnatal Yoga series with Nicole, starting Thursday, October 30 at 1:15 PM.

**Note: this is now a 5-week series as there will be no class on Nov 20**

This class focuses on mom's postpartum wellness, incorporating babies into some poses to keep them engaged. We sing songs and include movements with the babies, creating a supportive environment alongside other new moms navigating the ups and downs of having a new baby.

No prior yoga experience is required. The class is designed for mothers who are at least six weeks postpartum and have received clearance for activity from their healthcare provider. If your baby is mobile, you're still welcome to join; we trust moms to use their best judgment, as they may spend time attending to their little ones during the classes.

Poses flow together in small simple sequences while mindfully syncing movement and breath. We’ll end with breathwork and/or short meditation to ease into the rest of your day with calm and vitality.

This class is suitable for the beginner and continuing practitioner.

Join Darla this Fall starting on Wednesday, October 22 for a 6-week Iyengar Yoga series!

Iyengar yoga emphasizes the balance between stability and mobility, and the development of self-awareness through precision in movement and attention to the more subtle aspects of posture and breath. This 6-class series will be an opportunity to practice asanas through the wisdom and intelligence of the work of B.K.S. Iyengar.

This class introduces the basic principles of alignment of the standing poses, the seated poses, and the movements of the spine for beginning backbends, forward bends, inversions and twists. Props are often used to facilitate movement and the breath, you will learn that when the breath settles, tension in the brain settles.

You will develop mobility, stability, and strength through expanding your knowledge of the foundational asanas. Sanskrit names and yogic philosophy are introduced. This class is appropriate for students new to yoga or to the Iyengar method, or for experienced yoga students who want to strengthen their practice of fundamental actions and alignment in asanas.

While this series is also offered online via Zoom, due to the nature of this class students joining from home will need to have the necessary props available and have the ability to turn on their camera so Darla can assist.

In-studio students will receive hands-on support from Darla, and she may step away from the camera at times to provide this assistance. For those new to Iyengar Yoga, it is recommended to attend in person.

In Mobility & Stability Yoga we will learn how to establish the foundation and strength of poses and pose variations (stability), while we learn to extend and evolve through lengthening and breathing (mobility). A variety of props such as blocks, blankets, straps, bolsters and chairs will be used to assist with explorations of postures.

Finding the balance between mobility and stability is vital to sustaining a life-long practice in a healthy aging body. Many of Darla’s regular students are over 40 and well into their 50’s and 60’s but it doesn’t matter what age you are. If you are new to yoga or a long-time student, come join the fun to help you navigate the joys that come with growing into an aging body.

These classes are suitable for active beginners and continuing practitioners who are ok with weight-bearing and floor-based postures (such as hands and knees, downward facing dog, and prone (belly down) postures).
