Are you feeling the carb overload yet? πͺ
The holidays are often synonymous with extra sweets, treats, and SUGAR. From fancy indulgent coffee drinks, to Christmas baking, cookies, gatherings, and cocktails- the extra sugar intake is certainly quite real for most. We all know this can be a battle to resist! π
There is one big thing you can do to help counter the increase in sugar over the holidays - increase your veggie intake! π₯¦π₯ππΆπ
Try and get a variety of colourful vegetables, especially the dark green ones, on a daily basis. Veggies boost your vitamin levels and they contain antioxidants, which help to regulate the inflammatory effect of sugar. Veggies also help to reduce blood pressure, heart disease, and regulate blood sugar levels.
Quick tip! Keep a clear glass or plastic container filled with various chopped veggies in your fridge - easy to see and grab as a snack!
