We had a spooktacular time today celebrating Halloween. Games, music, treats and a costume runway walkoff. Thank you to all our residents and staff who dressed up and joined in the fun.

If you have your little ones out and about for trick or treating on Friday night we would love to see you. Our residents enjoy seeing all the different costumes and the smiles on their faces. And if its raining its the perfect place to keep dry and warm up a little.

This morning we worked in collaboration with the City of Stratford - The Municipality on their full scale emergency exercise! Months of planning came alive today, as our parking lot was turned into the command centre for this event. River Gardens was excited to be part of this emergency planning process and used this an opportunity to practice our own disaster management plans!
Thank you to the residents who volunteered their morning to be "rescued", to the students of St. Mikes who played injured residents, to the staff who made the whole morning go so smoothly and to the City of Stratford for this huge undertaking!

Just a reminder that this emergency exercise is taking place tomorrow. There will be no access to the front door of River Gardens between 8am and approximately 11am.

EMERGENCY EXERCISE PLANNED FOR THURSDAY, OCT. 23

On Thursday, October 23, the City of Stratford and community partners will be holding a staged emergency exercise on Romeo Street, near the River Gardens Retirement Residence.

This is a training exercise, but please be aware that there will be a large presence of emergency personnel in the area, including firefighters, police and paramedics.

As part of the exercise, Romeo Street between Delamere Avenue and Devon Street will be closed from 8:45 – 11 a.m. During that time, Romeo Street between McCarthy Road and Delamere Avenue, and Romeo Street between Ontario Street and Devon Street will be open to local traffic only.

This simulation is designed to test the City’s emergency response plans, and to help practice and prepare for real-life disasters.

Please avoid the area if possible so that the training can be done safely and effectively.
