Today is Employee Appreciation Day! We want to take a moment to celebrate our incredible team, who shows up every day to make every moment matter for those in our care.

Behind every moment of comfort, every helping hand, and every act of kindness at Rotary Hospice, is a dedicated team of people who care deeply about the work they do.

To our staff: thank you for the compassion, commitment, and heart you bring to our hospice home each and every day. Your hard work never goes unnoticed, and is deeply important.

During National Social Work Week, we're grateful to recognize the compassionate work of Registered Social Worker, Erin.

Through one-on-one counselling, Erin supports individuals navigating grief, loss, and serious illness. In these deeply vulnerable moments, her presence helps people feel heard, supported, and less alone.

Social workers play an essential role in hospice care. They hold space for difficult conversations, help people process complex emotions, and walk alongside those they support as they find their way through.

Thank you, Erin, Melissa and Jaclyn, for the care, empathy, and quiet strength you bring to our community each day. πŸ’™

Last month, we set out to grow our community of monthly donors with our Hospice Hearts Monthly Giving Challenge, and thanks to your generosity, we did just that.

With the support of compassionate donors and a generous matching gift from our friends at Quadro Communications Co-operative Inc., we welcomed new monthly supporters and saw existing donors increase their monthly gifts.

Monthly giving provides steady, reliable support for the care we offer, helping sustain essential programs such as grief and bereavement services and ensuring hospice care remains available for those who need it.

Thank you to Quadro Communications for your partnership and support.

And to everyone who gives month after month: thank you for being part of our Hospice Hearts family. Your kindness truly makes a difference.

This week is National Social Work Week, a time to celebrate the compassion, skill, and steadiness our Registered Social Workers bring to hospice care every day.

Jaclyn's work reflects what social work at Rotary Hospice is all about: walking alongside individuals and loved ones with care, creativity, and heart, through the hard moments as well as the hopeful ones.

We're deeply thankful to have Registered Social Workers Jaclyn, Melissa, and Erin as part of our team here at Rotary Hospice. The work they do every day, often unseen, is deeply important to those who call hospice their final home, as well as those in the broader community.

Last month, in honour of the month of love, staff were invited to write messages of appreciation for our volunteers. Rotary Hospice volunteers offer their time, presence, and care in countless ways. They support families and loved ones, assist our team, and help create a hospice environment rooted in compassion and dignity. We simply could not do this work without them.

Here are just a few of the messages our staff shared:

"Day after day, shift after shift, they always bring their best selves to ensure our visitors feel cared for!"

"They bring comfort and reassurance to so many."

"They make a difference every day!"

"They inspire us with their compassion, dignity, and skill."

"They make everything seem better."

"They share their unique talents, from food to music to great conversation, that bring such joy to residents, families and staff!"

To all our volunteers: thank you for the time you give, the care you share, and the community you help create.

As part of our Myth vs. Fact series, we're addressing common misconceptions about hospice care and the choices available to individuals and their loved ones.

One common myth is that once hospice care begins, you can't leave.

In reality, hospice care is always a choice. Individuals can leave hospice, change their care plan, or return to curative treatment at any time. Hospice support is there when, and for as long as it's needed.
