The study is evaluating whether a free, 9-week online cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) group co-facilitated by a Public Health Nurse and a recovered Peer can help improve postpartum depression (PPD) symptoms more than usual care alone.

Eligible participants will be randomly assigned to either participate in the online 9-week CBT sessions or continue with their usual care. All participants will complete a set of online questionnaires at enrolment, about 11 weeks after that and then 4 months later. A brief phone interview takes place at the 2nd and final timepoint as well. As a thank you, participants will receive a total of $90 in Walmart gift cards for completing the study.

We are currently recruiting mothers 18+ with a baby

Informed choice is foundational to midwifery care.

The Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC) has reaffirmed its position: acetaminophen remains a first-line option for pain and fever during pregnancy when used as recommended. Health Canada also maintains there is no conclusive evidence linking acetaminophen use in pregnancy to autism or other neurodevelopmental disorders.

Midwives support clients with evidence-based information to guide decision-making. If you have questions or concerns about using acetaminophen in pregnancy, talk to your midwife or other health-care provider.

The SOGC has issued a position statement reaffirming that acetaminophen remains a safe and appropriate first-line option for managing fever and pain during pregnancy when medically needed.

Despite claims suggesting a link between prenatal exposure to acetaminophen and certain neurodevelopmental disorders, the SOGC notes that the evidence for these claims is weak and has been consistently refuted by scientific and regulatory bodies.
In an age of growing misinformation, the SOGC urges Canadians to rely on evidence-based science and clinical expertise.
