Approximately 1 in 5 adults in British Columbia (roughly 20% of the population) lives with chronic pain, mirroring the national Canadian average. This prevalence increases with age, affecting about 27% of seniors in Canada and up to 38% of seniors in long-term care.

Evidence strongly supports osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) for managing musculoskeletal pain, particularly chronic low back pain, where it reduces pain intensity and disability while decreasing reliance on medication. It is also effective for neck pain, headaches, and general joint dysfunction.

Spring is fast approaching and you may already be planning what you'll do with the better weather.

If you're thinking of spending more time in the garden, some positions while gardening can contribute to the development of back pain.

Massage therapy can help you find relief from back pain and keep you in the garden.

Happy International Women's Day!

2026' theme is 'Give To Gain'

When we give, we gain.

Together, let's help forge gender equality through abundant giving.

Give To Gain emphasizes the power of reciprocity and support. When people, organizations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase. Giving is not a subtraction, it's intentional multiplication. When women thrive, we all rise.

Whether through donations, knowledge, resources, infrastructure, visibility, advocacy, education, training, mentoring, or time, contributing to women's advancement helps create a more supportive and interconnected world.

Did you know?

Chiropractors in BC are part of a regulated health profession, governed by the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC.

That means they are required to meet strict Clinical Practice Standards designed to protect patient safety and ensure high-quality care.

As of April 1, 2026, a new Clinical Practice Standard, Chiropractic Diagnostic Imaging comes into effect.

This standard:

• Uses a risk-based regulatory approach
• Requires clinical judgement before authorizing imaging
• Aligns with radiology best practices
• Reduces unnecessary radiation exposure

Chiropractors can only authorize X-rays when clinically indicated, based on a patient’s history, presentation, examination findings, and prior imaging.

As they advocate for the ability to send patients for publicly funded diagnostic imaging, they remain committed to the same regulatory standards, accountability, and patient-first approach that guide their profession every day.

Strong Regulation. Responsible Care.

Great tips via

Working at a desk? Here are some ways you can reduce or avoid repetitive strain injury (RSI) at your workstation:

1. Adjust your chair: Your shoulders and lower back should rest comfortably against the backrest, thighs parallel to the floor, with knees inline or slightly lower than your hips.

2. Adjust your monitor - Position your computer screen directly in front of you with the top line of text at eye level. This helps to keep your neck in a neutral position while you work.

3. Adjust your mouse/keyboard - Position your keyboard and mouse so that your arms are relaxed and your wrists are straight. Place them high enough that your elbows rest at your sides, and forearms sit parallel to the floor.

4. Keep moving - Avoid sitting in one position for too long. Move frequently and take breaks to stretch, stand, and walk around.

5. Visit your chiropractor - Chiropractors are spine, muscle and joint experts. They can provide education, advice, and hands-on treatment to help you avoid or manage pain.

February 28 is RSI Awareness Day. Share these tips with your friends and colleagues!
