What are you doing for your self care? There is lots around the community to support you physically, mentally and emotionally! Self care is a necessity and whether it’s exercising to improve physical fitness and endurance (think Orange Theory Fitness for group classes, Innovative Fitness for small group or private programs, Barre Fitness for strengthening and lengthening at the same time!) West Coast Hot Yoga, Shiva Cor Academy for a variety of awesome classes for mental and emotional classes. You can also choose from a variety of wellness events involving breathwork, sound baths and restoration yoga to really tap into your nervous system and give it good rest. Of course Salt Wellness is happy to provide floatation therapy, dry salt therapy and a variety of safe and gentle detox treatments to help support all part of yourselves. There can be many reasons why we may have pain or chronic fatigue and eliminating layers of triggers can be helpful in managing and combatting symptoms. We had a wonderful forest event yesterday at Ruth Johnson Trail! Learning about how nature can help you improve physical health with lovely oxygen and healthy ions that promote circulation, physical stamina and strengthened immunity, natural serotonin production (our feel good hormone and important neurotransmitter) to combat depression and fatigue during these shorter and darker winter days, and absorbing beautiful energy from the trees, plants, earth and rocks that soothe and nurture the nervous system and can help balance intense or ignored emotions.

You can feel the spiritual energy from the vital elements around us. We also learned about phytoncides, beneficial bacteria that is inhaled and absorbed via skin, that help restore flora balance in the body. Quiet, reflective moments throughout our forest experience while using our senses help create a sense of peace and calm. We ended with a meditation and visualization around gratitude and closed with a lemon balm tea.

A few of us went to to enjoy 15% off our lunch courtesy of owners Ben and Manel. Thank you so much! Lunch was delicious and nutritious!

Had a great Barre fitness class this past Sat - Barre Classic since I am a newbie. I loved the option of small weights, especially for my limitations with slipped discs, and really resonated and loved the stretches in between exercise segments.

Lastly, the cue to drink water after each set is a great reminder to stay hydrated and move that lymph system!

YES WE STILL DID IT IN THE RAIN AND IT WAS STILL AWESOME!

We had to modify slightly with standing stretches and a standing meditation but we made it work and it was still awesome! Thank you to the participants that joined me for our forest hike, forest bathing exercise, standing stretch and standing meditation in the rain. I hope you have more physical, mental and emotional resilience today!

If I can give one health tip for overall better wellness, it would be to GET OUTSIDE IN NATURE! The ionic acitivity in the natural elements of our earth have huge amounts of vital energy to replenish us not to mention phytoncides present in the soil and leaves that we absorb via inhalation and via the skin which boost our immunity so we are more resilient. On top of all this, being outside also improves our mental health and soothes emotional stress. Rain, snow or shine get outside and enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer us. (Think ocean walks, forest bathing, fresh or salt water swimming, waterfall exposure and earthing - bare feet on the ground/earth). Feel the difference in your physical, mental and emotional health.
