As we say goodbye to 2023 we wish you all a Happy New Year from all the staff at Westminster House!

Very exciting news for our residents!! Starting April 1, family and friends can visit their loved ones in long-term care and assisted living facilities more regularly. All social visits still need to be scheduled in advance. People living in long-term care can now have:

• Indoor visits with two visitors (+ 1 child) at the same time
• More social visitors outdoors, in accordance with current PHO guidelines
• More flexibility on where, when, and how often visits can take place, including in residents’ rooms
• Visits for a minimum of 60 minutes
• Physical touch between residents and their visitors with infection prevention and control measures in place
• Support to leave the facility for family visits (not just essential outings) and will not be required to isolate upon return

These changes are possible because the majority of residents and staff have received protection with their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Learn more:

People in long-term care and their loved ones will have more ways to safely spend time together, with long-term care visitation rules easing on April 1, 2021.

Staff have fun working here! And they get gifts at Christmas! Unfortunately we weren’t able to have our annual Christmas party this year 😪

Not pretty but it has heat and light, and it’s nicely decorated inside and it is safe for visits. Residents and families love it! We also have an indoor area for safe visits as well.

WESTMINSTER HOUSE is a 117 suite, private pay not for profit retirement home located in South Surrey/White Rock in a quiet residential neighborhood. Westminster House is licensed by the Adult Care Regulations under the Community Care and Assisted Living Act. Residents are assessed by our Director of Care prior to admission to assure placement at the level appropriate for each individual's needs.
