This Remembrance Day, we reflect on the courage and dedication of veterans like Cliff Downey.

Cliff, a resident at Elim Village Garrison Crossing, spent 30 years with the Royal Canadian Engineers, 17 of them right here in Chilliwack. Originally from Ontario, he was first stationed at CFB Chilliwack—now the site of Garrison Crossing—in 1952 at age 20 and later returned after retirement, drawn back to the place that always felt like home. Today, Cliff's suite in The Hawthorn overlooks the old barracks and his former office, a daily reminder of a remarkable chapter of service.

A trip back in time! 🎶 Residents at The Emerald at Elim Village Fleetwood enjoyed Marching Through the 40s, a captivating performance by musical duo Linda & Malcom. With wartime songs and lively dance, the show honoured the heroes of the Second World War and brought the music of the era to life.

What a hoot! 🦉 Residents at Elim Village Fleetwood enjoyed a special visit from OWL Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society, who brought along a majestic owl and a merlin. It was an incredible opportunity to see these beautiful birds up close and learn all about their species.

A Community That Cares

Beginning in the early 1990’s, the idea of a Christian retirement community was formed from a small group of Christians studying the book of James. More than two decades later, the original vision is now a reality. Our Fleetwood campus now offers a full range of seniors housing and care options and we have expanded our concept to the picturesque community of Garrison Crossing.
