📢 Today is – to celebrate the sector’s massive economic & social contribution – and create a deeper understanding of the people and communities it supports.

At UNITI, we believe that non-profits are more than service providers, we are community builders, systems changers, and voices for equity.
Non-profits like ours lead with purpose, not profit. We respond to gaps, challenge injustice, and create spaces where everyone belongs.
UNITI is proud to stand with thousands of organizations across BC who are shaping a more inclusive, compassionate, and resilient future - because together we're stronger.

🎉 Celebrating Inclusion and Connection at UNITI!

What a fantastic evening we had hosting the SWRBOT networking night at UNITI! The room was buzzing with energy, ideas, and meaningful connections, a true reflection of the power of community and collaboration.

A special highlight of the evening was celebrating 3 inclusive employers in Surrey - organizations that are truly leading by example when it comes to building workplaces where everyone belongs.

A huge thank you to for bringing together such an inspiring group of professionals, and to everyone who joined us to make the night such a success.

UNITI at the SWRBOT Development Industry Forum

We were honoured to be invited as a panelist and sponsor at the Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade’s Development Industry Forum: Stabilizing Housing Development in Uncertain Times.
With Mayor Brenda Locke, Deputy Mayor Bill Lawrence, and leading voices from the housing and development sectors in attendance, the forum tackled the urgent challenges of affordability, rising costs, and infrastructure demands.
UNITI proudly shared our perspective on the vital role non-profit housing plays in addressing the housing crisis. Inclusive, affordable, and community-driven solutions must be part of the conversation - and we’re grateful our voice was heard.
Let’s keep building a future where everyone has a place to call home.

This Thanksgiving, we gather with gratitude for community, time with loved ones, and the land that sustains us.

With appreciation we also remember where we are and how we came to be here. We acknowledge the deep histories of this land and the ongoing presence, wisdom, and contributions of Indigenous peoples.

We mark today as a time for reflection and thanksgiving as we move grounded in connection, togetherness, and belonging.

📚✨ We’re thrilled to share that our very own little lending library is now open thanks to the incredible generosity of the local Men's Shed chapter!

Located right outside our office at the corner of 153rd and 24th, this charming library is a symbol of community spirit and connection. Huge thanks to Dave and the Men's Shed team for building and installing it with care. ❤️

Stop by, take a book, leave a book, and help us keep the joy of reading alive in our neighbourhood!

🔹 Leadership Announcement🔹
We’re excited to share that the UNITI Board of Directors has appointed Katie Crocker as CEO Designate, effective October 14, 2025.

This marks the beginning of a thoughtful leadership transition as we prepare for the retirement of our current CEO, Doug Tennant, in 2026. Doug has led UNITI with vision, compassion, and innovation - and he offers his full support for Katie:

“Having worked closely with Katie as part of the UNITI Board, I’ve seen firsthand the depth of her commitment and her strategic leadership. I am thrilled to pass the torch to someone who not only understands our values, but lives them every day.”
— Doug Tennant, CEO, UNITI

Katie brings a wealth of experience to this role. As a long-time Board member and most recently Board Chair, she has helped shape UNITI’s strategic direction. She is also a parent of a daughter with a disability and a passionate advocate for inclusive communities - her lived experience aligns deeply with UNITI’s mission.

Over the coming months, Katie will work closely with Doug and our leadership team to ensure a smooth and collaborative transition.

Please join us in congratulating Katie and thanking Doug for his remarkable leadership. We look forward to this next chapter with optimism and gratitude.

UNITI is closed for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th.

Today, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities to honour Survivors, their families, and the children who never returned home. As an organization, we are committed to listening, learning, and taking meaningful steps toward truth and reconciliation.

The first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation was held in 2021. This day is also Orange Shirt Day, which began in 2013 and was created by the Orange Shirt Society.
