Have you ever wondered what the meniscus in the knee does and what it looks like on MRI? Actually, there are two in each knee, and they sit between the femur and the tibia. Each meniscus acts like a cushion, transferring energy across the knee joint and also providing stability to the knee. When a meniscus tears that can cause pain, locking, instability and swelling around the knee. There are many different kinds of meniscal tears. MRI is a great test for looking at the meniscus and determining if there is a tear. Here are two pictures, one of a normal knee with an intact meniscus and another with a torn meniscus. The meniscus has a triangular shape on these images.

Diagnostic pregnancy ultrasound examinations are now available at Access MRI with no waitlist. All our ultrasound examinations are performed by experienced, fully qualified, registered sonographers and read by experienced radiologists. We use a premium ultrasound system with 3D imaging. Access MRI is a private, non-MSP facility. Pregnancy ultrasound examinations cost $450 at Access MRI.

Access MRI now offers diagnostic ultrasound with no waitlist. We offer all types of ultrasound, including vascular imaging and echocardiograms, with 3D and 4D imaging capabilities. All our ultrasound examinations are performed by experienced, registered sonographers. Ultrasounds cost between $345 for shorter examinations up to $575 for an echocardiogram (heart ultrasound).

The MRI machine sends and receives radio signals while changing the strength of a magnetic field in specific ways. The radio signal received is decoded using a mathematical process. This results in detailed images of the human body. MRI is very useful because almost any part of the body can be imaged.
