Grow Your Mane for May — Community Awareness Campaign

This May, Vaapsi is launching Grow Your Mane for May, a community campaign supporting members of the South Asian community who are facing addiction and mental health challenges.

In Sikhi, the beard represents identity, strength, discipline, and responsibility. Growing your mane this May becomes a visible way to stand with brothers who are rebuilding their lives and returning to stability and purpose.

At Vaapsi, we believe healing happens together. Through Seva, Simran, and Sangat, we support men as they reconnect with themselves, their families, and their community. Our work is guided each day by our R.E.T.U.R.N values of Resilience, Empathy, Truth, Unity, Respect, and Naam.

This campaign is about starting conversations, reducing stigma, and reminding men that they do not have to struggle alone.

This May, stand with pride.
Grow your mane. Support recovery. Strengthen our community.

At Vaapsi, recovery is more than a program.

It’s a return.

A return to stability.

A return to family.

A return to identity.

A return to purpose.

A return to Sangat.

Our R.E.T.U.R.N. values guide everything we do and shape the environment our brothers step into when they begin their journey with us.

When one person returns, families heal.

When families heal, our community becomes stronger.

On Vaisakhi, we come together to celebrate renewal, strength, and the spirit of community.

Vaisakhi reminds us of courage, commitment, and standing beside one another. It’s also a time to reconnect with our values and support those who may be struggling.

Vaapsi Seva Society will have a booth set up during the Vaisakhi celebrations.

If you or someone you know needs support around addiction recovery, mental health, or community connection, please stop by and speak with us. Our team will be there to share information about our programs and how we can help.

Come say hello, connect with the team, and learn more about how Vaapsi is supporting healing in our community.

Happy Vaisakhi to everyone celebrating

Stronger communities through connection

Vaisakhi reminds us that strength has always come from standing together.

It marks a time of renewal, courage, and collective spirit. A time when community is not just something we belong to — it’s something we build, support, and grow together.

At Vaapsi, we see every day how connection helps people move forward. When individuals feel supported and families feel connected, healing becomes possible.

This Vaisakhi, we reflect on the power of community and the role each of us plays in supporting one another.

Dasvandh is the practice of setting aside a portion of what we have to support others. Rooted in seva, compassion, and shared responsibility, it reflects the belief that care should extend beyond ourselves and into our communities.

This Vaisakhi, your dasvandh can support Vaapsi in providing culturally responsive care, support, and healing-centered resources for individuals and families impacted by substance use, including women, children, and loved ones navigating its effects.

Every contribution helps create more space for safety, connection, and recovery.

Positive Sangat shapes the future of our youth.

Supportive friends. Strong mentors. Safe environments.

This is where confidence grows and healthy choices begin.

Let’s keep building spaces where youth feel supported and guided — because who they’re surrounded by today shapes who they become tomorrow.

Friends, the leadership team gathered yesterday and want to share a message with you:

At Vaapsi, recovery is only the beginning. Our work is about restoration: restoring dignity where shame once lived, restoring connection where isolation took hold, and restoring hope for Punjabi individuals and families affected by addiction.

The next three years mark a defining chapter in our journey. This is the time to strengthen our foundation, expand our programs, and ensure that no one seeking healing must choose between recovery and cultural belonging. At Vaapsi, individuals find a community that reflects their values, honours their identity, and walks beside them toward a sustainable future.

Guided by Sikh principles, grounded in community collaboration, and driven by an unwavering dedication to wellness, Vaapsi is building more than a program. We’re cultivating a recovery movement, one that will transform lives today and reshape our community for generations to come.
