Let us all take a moment today and thank the brave men and women past and present for the freedom we have today. The brave men and women who died for this country. Died for us to live the way we do. Take a moment today and remember them.

Alright! In honor of Movember and men's health month Coach Luke Carruthers and Coach Justin Young and growing a tash! And we want you to vote on the best one!

Here are some key men’s-health statistics from the Movember Foundation (often referenced during “Movember”)

📊 Global & General Health Stats

On average, men die 6 years earlier than women across the world.

Globally, physical inactivity is the 4th leading risk factor for mortality — about 3.2 million deaths each year are attributable to insufficient physical activity.

In high-income countries: about 41% of men don’t get enough physical activity.

Men are 24% less likely than women to have visited a doctor within the past year (US statistic).

🎗 Cancer & Specific Male Diseases

For prostate cancer (US data):

It is the 2nd most common cancer in men.

~1 in 8 American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.

~73 American men die from prostate cancer each day.

For testicular cancer (US/global data):

It is the most common cancer in young men aged 15-34 years.

Globally: ~74,000 new cases each year; ~836,000 men living with or beyond testicular cancer.

🧠 Mental Health & Su***de Prevention

In the US: ~4 out of 5 suicides are men.

In the UK, research by Movember found that men in the most deprived areas are 81% more likely to die prematurely (before age 75) than men in the wealthiest areas.

One huge behavioural stat: in Canada, 65% of men wait more than six days with symptoms before visiting a doctor.

🇨🇦 Canada-Specific Stats

More than 2 in 5 men (44%) in Canada die prematurely, before age 75.

A boy born in Canada can expect to live ~4.5 years less than a girl.

🧱 Why this matters & what the movement is doing

The Movember Foundation has funded 1,300+ (or 1,320+) men’s health projects globally since its inception.

Their reports emphasise that poor men’s health doesn’t just affect men — it has ripple effects on families, communities, and health systems.

Movember’s strategic focus: better engaging men early, improving healthcare access/timeliness for men, and tackling preventable risk factors (e.g., inactivity, delayed care, mental health stigma).

At the end of we will post our epic tashes and have a vote for who's is the best! Stay tuned!
