As we celebrate 75 years of SaskAbilities, we want to pause and say thank you. This milestone anniversary has given us the opportunity to reflect on the impact made together and to express our appreciation for the incredible community that continues to support the Swift Current branch. The following message is shared from our Regional Director as part of our 75th anniversary reflections.

"As I reflect on the past year, I am incredibly proud of what the Swift Current SaskAbilities team has accomplished and so grateful for the continued support of our community!

Celebrating SaskAbilities’ 75th anniversary gave us a meaningful opportunity to honor our history while highlighting the impact being made right here in Swift Current. From the continued success of AbilityBowl, to our first-ever Black Tie Bingo, record-breaking participation in Light It Up for Disability Employment Awareness Month, and two 75th Anniversary BBQs, this year truly was one for the books. Our community welcomed us in to volunteer, take part in recreational activities and events, and businesses continued to embrace hiring individuals experiencing disability into their workplaces.

Each of these moments reflects what makes our community so special: a shared commitment to building inclusive communities for people of all abilities.

For 75 years, SaskAbilities has continued to grow, adapt, and expand programs and services to meet the needs of the people we serve. At the Swift Current branch, I am incredibly proud and grateful for our dedicated staff and for their contribution to this legacy, the individuals experiencing disabilities who choose SaskAbilities, their families and caregivers, and the community partners who support us.

Thank you to everyone who supported the Swift Current SaskAbilities branch this year. Your generosity and commitment to inclusion make everything we do possible. I’m excited about the future and what’s still to come."

On December 2, 2025, members of SaskAbilities’ Board of Directors, together with staff members, were present in the Legislative Assembly as the Government of Saskatchewan officially proclaimed SaskAbilities Day—a meaningful recognition of our 75th anniversary and the work we’ve carried out together since 1950.

To the Government of Saskatchewan—thank you for this honour. To our community—thank you for your trust and belief in the work we do.
We invite you to watch and listen to this powerful moment as it unfolded in the Legislative Assembly. It was a moment of pride, not only for SaskAbilities, but for every family, client, staff member, volunteer, donor, and community partner who has walked beside us on this journey.

This proclamation is more than a symbolic gesture. It’s a public affirmation of the values we hold dear: inclusion, accessibility, dignity, and opportunity for all.

Here’s to 75 years of impact—and to the future we continue to build, together.

Earlier today, members of SaskAbilities’ Board of Directors, together with members of Administrative Council, proudly gathered at the Legislative Assembly as the Government of Saskatchewan officially proclaimed December 2, 2025, as SaskAbilities Day — a special recognition of our 75th anniversary.

We are grateful for our ongoing partnership with the Government of Saskatchewan and we were honoured to be recognized in the House as part of today’s proceedings. Pictured here with The Honourable Terry Jenson, Minister of Social Services, we are reminded of the importance of collaboration in building inclusive communities across the province.

This proclamation is more than a date — it’s a meaningful acknowledgment of people experiencing disability, families, and communities who have helped shape our journey since 1950.

To everyone who has supported SaskAbilities through the years — thank you. Your belief in inclusion, accessibility, and opportunity continues to inspire us every day.

Here’s to 75 years of building communities where everyone belongs — and to the future we’re creating, together.

Today, our President, Paul Blackstock, is honoured to attend the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as the Government of Saskatchewan proclaims December 2, 2025, as SaskAbilities Day — recognizing 75 years of service to people experiencing disability across the province.

From our beginnings in 1950 to the province-wide organization we are today, SaskAbilities is proud to support over 50,000 people experiencing disability each year through programs that promote independence, inclusion, and quality of life.

We’re grateful to the Government of Saskatchewan, the people of Saskatchewan, and the many individuals experiencing disability and families who continue to inspire and shape our work. Together, we’re building a Saskatchewan where everyone belongs.

We proclaim today, December 2, 2025, as SaskAbilities Day to celebrate 75 years of service supporting persons with disabilities and strengthening communities across the province.

Since 1950, SaskAbilities has provided programs and services that promote inclusion, independence, and opportunity for more than 50,000 individuals each year.

We thank SaskAbilities for their decades of partnership and commitment to building a Saskatchewan where everyone can participate fully.
