Island Eyecare Ltd Proud to be providing modern eyecare and eyewear to Cape Bretoners! New patients welcome. Dr MacInnis has a special interest in Dry Eye Disease.

We started out serving Sydney residents in 1975 at 247 Charlotte St and moved to our current location at 117 Welton St in 1990. In 2015, Dr Shaun MacInnis took over the practice to promote modern eye care in Sydney. He and our eye care staff are here to care for all of your vision needs. We handle everything from adult and children’s eye exams and hard-to-fit contact lenses, to eye emergencies, treatment of eye diseases and co-management of eye surgery such as LASIK. We also have one of the largest frame selections on the island. Come on in and take a look for yourself!

Our team continues to be involved all over the community. This week Dr MacInnis took part in the women and girls’ hockey coach clinic in Sydney on Monday evening. The clinic was offered by Hockey Canada in the lead-up to to 2026 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship in Cape Breton this month. 🇨🇦

The event was led by coaches Katie Greenway, formerly with team Canada, and Alena Polenska, former captain of team Czechia. 👏

Thanks again to everyone who helped make it an incredible event. 🙏
