For today’s , we’re taking a trip down memory lane with our Vice Chair, Miranda, and her heart-horse, Bobby!

Can you believe this photo? This is Miranda with a 2-year-old Bobby! 🥹❤️ Even back then, you could see the start of the incredible bond they share today.

✨ Growing Up Together
It’s so special to look back at these "toddler years." At two years old, Bobby was very good at showing his big personality we all know and love, and Miranda was already there with her calm, level-headed approach to guide him.

When we talk about the healing power of horses at Transitions Acres, we aren’t just following a modern trend—we’re participating in a practice with ancient roots!

Did you know? 🏛️🐎
Using horses for therapeutic purposes dates all the way back to the Ancient Greeks. Even Hippocrates, often called the "Father of Medicine," wrote about the "natural exercise" and therapeutic value of riding and being near horses in his texts from 400 BC!

At Transitions Acres, we believe the most powerful lessons happen at eye-level. Through Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) and hands-on interaction, children develop a unique partnership with our horses that goes far beyond riding.

A Non-Judgmental Mirror 🤍
Horses reflect our energy without criticism. They don't care about "fitting in"—they simply respond to who a child is in that moment. This creates a safe, pressure-free space for children to build self-esteem.

Caring for a horse—from grooming to leading—gives a child a tangible sense of purpose. Realizing that a 1,000lb animal trusts and relies on them builds immense pride and a "can-do" attitude.

Miranda brings years of deep, hands-on horse experience to our organization. Her calm and level-headed approach is exactly what keeps us moving forward, ensuring that our mission stays grounded and our herd stays thriving. 🌿

Outside of her role at Transitions, Miranda is a devoted wife and a loving mom. But in the barn, she is also the proud "horse mom" to Bobby! 🐎

Next up in our "Meet the Herd" series is the stunning and sophisticated “Bandido’s Envy.” Don’t let the name fool you—she is as sweet and lovable as they come! 🎀

Envy is a beautiful, fancy-moving little pony with some serious skills; she’s fully trained to drive, and she looks elegant doing it. But beyond her "fancy" movement, it’s her golden heart that makes everyone fall in love with her the moment they meet her.

✨ The Perfect First Partner
Envy has a very special role here at Transitions Acres. Because of her smaller stature and her incredibly gentle, patient nature, she is often the go-to partner for:

✨ First-time participants who are brand new to horses.
✨ Nervous learners who need a calm, steady presence to build their confidence.
✨ Anyone who needs a little extra attention and kisses (which she loves to give!).

👯‍♀️ The Dynamic Duo: Envy & Willow
In the field, Envy has struck up a beautiful friendship with Willow. They’ve become absolute best friends! 💖

Envy is actually a bit of a mentor; she’s been helping Willow find her own confidence, encouraging her to be more interactive and social with people on her own accord. It’s amazing to watch how the horses support one another’s growth just as much as they support ours.

​As the earth awakens, we invite you to join us for a powerful Spring Sunrise Ceremony to honor the shift in seasons and the renewal of spirit.
​Guided by Eric G Martin, this ceremony will be held in the sacred Sweat Lodge tradition, focusing on purification, gratitude, and setting intentions for the months ahead. Together, we’ll welcome the first light of spring and ground ourselves in the teachings of the lodge.
