VIRTUAL GROUP FOR FIRST RESPONDERS

Following the successful completion of two spouse’s groups we are pleased to be able to offer a group for first responders themselves.

• Are you struggling with PTSD in relation to your role as a first responder?
• Do you seek support for this unique role along with others who are experiencing similar difficulties and want to learn how PTSD impacts your relationships?

This may be the group for you.
We are now offering a unique experience of a virtual support and process group for first responders.

Why group?

• The group dynamic allows members to feel supported and accepted, and it can reduce stigma and isolation.
• The similarities among members can provide a sense of community, while the diversity of experience can spark ideas for new ways of coping with challenges.
• The group provides a safe environment in which to take social risks and experiment with new ways of interacting and behaving.
• Group therapy dynamics can be used by members to better understand how they relate to others and to make positive changes in their relationships.
o The group will be starting February, 2022. We will have 10 sessions (1.5 each session except for holidays)
o It is a closed group where you will meet and share your perspective and experiences with other officers like you.
o The group will be led by two clinical psychologists and will be covered by your health benefits plan.

To find out more please contact us at hannah.rockman@rogers.com

The number of group members will be capped at 10 members so if you think this is for you, don’t delay as places will be filled up quickly.

** New -- Virtual Counselling group for Police officers' spouses **

YRPS are pleased to offer a counselling/support group that is planned to start around mid-October 2020, conducted online.

There will be 10 sessions of 1.5 hours, led by two clinical psychologists. The sessions are covered by the employee health benefits plan.

The group focuses on those spouses who feel they do not have adequate personal support as most services are geared towards the police officers.

Themes that will be addressed will incorporate the meaning of being a police officer’s partner, including having to support a spouse who may be dealing with traumatic experiences and suffering from PTSD, and how this affects relationships and parenting.

The group will offer a unique experience:

o Group dynamic allows members to feel supported and accepted and it can reduce stigma and isolation

o The similarities among members can provide a sense of community, while the diversity of experience can spark ideas for new ways of coping with challenges

o Provides a safe environment in which to take social risks and experiment with new ways of interacting and behaving

o Group therapy dynamics can be used by members to better understand how they relate to others and to make positive changes in their relationships

To learn more about the group, please call us at (416) 602-3230. Participation will be capped at 10 members, so if you think this is for you, don’t delay as places are filling up quickly.
