Bodhi Bodies

Bodhi Bodies I help you balance body, mind and spirit with an integrated approach to fitness. My name is Ryan Gallant, founder of Bodhi Bodies Wellness.

After years of working as a Personal Trainer and Kinesiologist I felt there was something missing to the exercise programs I was giving clients. I set off to India and spent the next 5 years studying, and practicing Yoga and Meditation. Traditional exercise programs focus on only one aspect of well being; Physical Health. At Bodhi Bodies I have created holistic fitness programs emphasizing a deep connection to the body and mind. You will receive expert instruction in Yoga, and traditional exercise allowing you to awaken your body and master your mind.

I’ve been working on my strength more than yoga lately. I am seeing results, I gained 10 lbs and feel stronger, but nothing can replace what yoga does for my mind-body. Even a simple 10 minute practice will relieve tension and create more peace within. With regular practice anyone can learn this and live a more balanced lifestyle.

What happens when you think about making a change in your life?
Does your mind come up with many reasons why you won't be able to do it?
If it does..take a breath..this is normal.
In his book "The Confidence Gap" Russ Harris gives the four most common "reason giving" categories.

1) Obstacles: Our mind creates barriers that block our path
2) Self Judgement: We judge all the ways in which we are not up to the challenge
3) Comparisons: We view others as superior in some way
4) Predictions: Our mind makes up an unsuccessful outcome before we begin

He says that it is not about eliminating the thoughts, but reframing them; making them "workable".

Ask yourself
"If I allow this thought to guide my actions, will it help me create the life I want?"

When I set out to start Bodhi Bodies I was also about to become a new father, still setting my life up in Canada after 4.5 years abroad, and working full time to pay bills. I had many limiting thoughts. One example was the obstacle: "I do not have enough time or energy to even launch a business, let alone run it". If I let that thought guide my actions I wouldn't be writing this post two and a half years later. Instead, I reframed the thought to "My time and energy is limited, but if I stay organized and use my time well, and also take care of my body and mind, I will be able to do it. Even if it isn't completed as soon as I desire"

That simple shift in thinking from a reason why I can't do it, to what I can do to still accomplish the goal, made all the difference. It made the thought workable, and if I followed it (which I did), it would help me create a life I wanted to live.

So I ask you now to thinking about a change you are wanting to make (big or small) in your life. And do this exercise. What thoughts come up? Can you reframe them to make them workable?

I hope this helps you as we move into a season of new life and change. I invite you to welcome in Spring with a fresh start, and healthier more balanced lifestyle. There are still a few spots left in my new program "Strong Body, Mind and Spirit". If you are an open minded person who wants to become stronger and more balanced in body in mind in the next 60 days message or DM "Balance"

Advice for starting a Strength Training Program

Start with 2 to 3 days a week
- You want to have the right amount of stress on the body to see the results you are looking for. A simple 2 to 3 day full body program will be all you need for the first 3 months (or ever).

Keep your workouts short and focused
- spend maximum 1 hour in your workout. Research shows 35-40 minutes of intense work is ideal for increasing strength and muscle size without over stressing the body.

Focus on the compound exercises
- Compound exercises use multiple muscle groups across multiple joints to execute the movement as opposed to an isolated exercise which only uses one muscle group. This gives you strength that you can use in the real world while getting the most out of your time at the gym.

And, just so you know, I’m putting together a brand-new program starting April 10th. This is specifically for open minded people who want to become stronger and more balanced in body and mind in 60 days. It’s a remote program, so you can join from anywhere in the world. I’m looking for 5 people to test it out at a HUGE DISCOUNT, help me work out the kinks, and get amazing results that I can use as a case study. If that’s you, message me with ‘tell me more’ and I’ll share the details about this exciting program.
