For 65 years, George Jeffrey Children’s Centre has been shaped by the strength of community.

From the earliest days of volunteer-led care to the specialized services offered today, this Centre has always been built on people who believe children deserve every opportunity to thrive.

Celebrating 65 years means celebrating everyone who has been part of the journey. 🧡 Thank you.

Youth -> this month we will have some special guests coming and teaching us a fun game of disking. It can be described as a cross between shuffleboard and curling played in the gym. It is super fun! This will provide us with a natural setting to work on turn taking, winning and losing, and working as a team. We will finish our time together with pizza.🍕

Caregivers -> while your youth is attending the Youth PACK, our Family Engagement team is going to have an adult socialization time for you. We have named our parent and caregiver group Care and Share.
Light refreshments and snacks will be offered. Lorrie and Shirin (Family Engagement Coordinators) will be there to help facilitate conversations. There will be a presentation from Rowan Tree Collective. We will be learning together what type of programs they offer for youth 😊
We will not be able to offer Child minding but will provide activities for siblings to participate in. If you do not want to participate that is ok, your child is still welcome to come to the Youth PACK.

Please call reception @ 807-623-4381 to register!

February was Recreational Therapy Month!

Here at GJCC, we are so thankful to be able to offer recreational programming for our clients. February was filled with exciting recreational opportunities – from sledge-hockey athletes taking centre stage at Fort William Gardens, to clients making social connections through various group programming. Whether it’s building strength through adaptive sports, boosting confidence with creative expression, or sparking joy through shared laughter, recreational therapy proves that fun isn’t just fun — it’s therapeutic!

Let’s continue to play, connect, and celebrate life through recreation! March Break programming is now available for registration.

65 years represents thousands of children supported, families empowered, and lives impacted, all made possible through collaboration, compassion, and community care.

From humble, grassroots beginnings to the specialized, family-centred services offered today, George Jeffrey Children’s Centre has continued to evolve while staying true to its mission: enriching lives through client-centred care.

This year is a time to reflect on how far we’ve come and to look forward with purpose and hope.
