Marya, a vibrant elementary school teacher, was at home preparing a quick bowl of instant noodles when a sudden spill caused boiling water, oil, and sticky noodles to land on her skin. She sustained severe burns to her abdomen and thigh, and required donated tissue to help prevent infection and give her skin the protection it needed to heal.

“Before my burn, I had no idea how someone’s skin could help so much,” Marya shares.

Thanks to her tissue donor, Marya is now healing and getting back to the life she loves.

This is Rio. He’s all about friends and family. People are his passion. And maybe video games and basketball, too. He surrounds himself with the people he loves the most and nurtures those relationships. Happiness is a simple equation for Rio: Family and friends + doing stuff we love together = mega fulfillment. We think he’s on to something. Clearly, Rio lives well. He also intends to Leave Well. Rio is registered as an organ and tissue donor. Organ donation is close to home for Rio. “Seven years ago, my grandmother needed a double lung transplant,” he says, “So when the opportunity came to give back, I took it.”

His grandmother’s transplant changed his family forever.
Now, he’s giving back. 💚

Yes, you can. Your eyesight can be poor and your corneas can still be healthy. This is possible because many visual conditions that contribute to poor eyesight do not directly affect the cornea itself. You can still be an eye donor if you:

• Wear glasses
• Have cataracts or have had cataract surgery
• Have diabetes
• Have glaucoma
• Have had laser corrective surgery
• Are blind

If you agree to donate your eyes when you register to be an organ and tissue donor, your eye tissue will be recovered and analyzed to make sure it's healthy for transplant.
Choose to leave well so others can live well.
