We’ve known since before the last school year, that children were not contributing to the spread of the virus. Yet, they still had to endure a broken up school year, and excessive measures when they were present for in-person learning.

A report published by SickKids hospital in July 2020, was submitted to the province, recommending that children be able to interact freely amongst one another, and that extra measures were unnecessary.

Shortly thereafter, the teachers union disagreed with the plan, and the public was voicing their fear-based opinions, so SickKids was forced to submit a revised plan for school guidelines.

Right before schools were shutdown again, a Toronto school sent home 300 kids (1/3 of their student population) when 3 kids from the same household tested positive. All of their parents were forced to miss work to isolate with their children for 14days. By the end of it, the 3 kids never developed any symptoms, and none of the other 297 kids received a positive test result.

What we have seen is the detrimental effects this is having on our youth’s mental well-being, while implementing measure which have absolutely no benefit to them. The damage being done is evident in the stats for youth suicides.

It’s time that people stop projecting their fear onto their children, and that kids be able to get back to living.

👩‍⚕️ Allow healthcare workers to make that choice for themselves too.

They’ve been out there this whole time, on the frontline - unvaccinated. If they feel comfortable working without it, that speaks volumes.
