You might have heard of manual osteopathy, but do you know where it comes from or how it can support your health?
Osteopathy was founded in the late 1800s by Andrew Taylor Still, who believed that the human body is inherently capable of healing itself when it’s in balance. His philosophy was rooted in the idea that a deep understanding of anatomy is essential to effectively treat injury, illness, and dysfunction, an approach that continues to guide osteopathic practice today.
Still developed a hands-on method of care focused on musculoskeletal manipulation to help restore balance within the body. This approach became known as osteopathy. Today, Osteopathic Manual Practitioners continue this tradition by working to maintain, improve, and restore normal physiological function across interconnected body systems, supporting the body’s natural ability to heal and thrive.
