Meet Meghan our Intern Psychotherapist,

Meghan is completing her clinical placement with us. She is currently finishing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, where she is developing a grounded, compassionate, and client-centred approach to therapy.

She strives to create a warm, non-judgmental, and collaborative space where clients feel safe to explore their experiences. She believes that therapy is a collaboration which ensures the client feels comfortable and in control of their own life. Everyone’s experiences are different; therefore, each approach will be tailored to the unique needs of each person.

Today in our A to Z coping skills series, we have Yoga.

Yoga isn't just stretching, it’s self-regulation in motion.

It connects breath, body, and awareness, reducing anxiety, calming the nervous system, and restoring presence.
You don’t need flexibility.
You don’t need fancy poses.
You just need a few quiet minutes and a mat (or floor).

When you approach a conversation with curiosity instead of defensiveness, you create space for understanding, empathy, and real connection.
Pausing to listen rather than react, can completely shift how we relate to one another.

Connection begins with curiosity. 💜

Today in our A to Z coping skills series, we have eXpression.

Expression is your opportunity to claim space and let the world know you exist.

Your true self some times does not need healing. It needs to be released in writing, in fashion, in art, in words, in songs, in... So write it. Sing it. Rap it. Paint it. Move it. Wear it. Walk it. Talk it.

You don't even have to make sense or perform. Just be you and be authentic.

Our office will be closed from December 25th to 29th so our team can enjoy a holiday break.

✨ Important: Some of our therapists do have pre-scheduled weekend appointments during this time. If you already have a session booked, don’t worry your therapist will still be there as planned.

Please note that support staff will not be available during the closure, so responses to calls and emails will be delayed until we return.

Wishing you a restful and peaceful holiday season from all of us at Creating Connection.

💬 Being a teenager is hard. They’re expected to keep up, fit in, perform, and “be okay”… even when they’re not.
Many teens are quietly struggling with:
• Big emotions they don’t know how to manage
• Anxiety and pressure at school or with peers
• Low confidence and self-esteem
• Feeling misunderstood or overwhelmed

✨ That’s where therapy can help!

✔ Learn healthy ways to manage emotions
✔ Build confidence and a stronger sense of self
✔ Develop tools to handle anxiety and stress
✔ Feel heard, supported, and understood

As adults, the holidays can start to feel more stressful than magical. But the magic isn’t gone sometimes it just needs a little intention to show up again.

Here are gentle ways to reconnect with the season:

✨ Slow down and create tiny rituals: a special candle, a cozy playlist, a nightly warm drink.
✨ Revisit something from childhood that made you smile: holiday lights, old movies, decorating cookies.
✨ Lean into connection through simple moments like winter walks, handwritten cards, or game nights.
✨ Do something kind without expecting anything back, small acts often spark the biggest warmth.
✨ Start a new tradition that fits the life you have now, not the one you had years ago.
✨ Let go of pressure and choose the parts of the season that genuinely bring you peace.

Magic doesn’t always look like excitement sometimes it’s softness, comfort, and slowing down long enough to actually feel the moments around you.

Today in our A to Z coping skills series, we have Writing.

Writing isn’t just an outlet, it’s a mirror. When thoughts feel tangled, writing helps untie the knots. This could, again, be journaling or creative writing such as poems or stories.

It can serve as a window to our past selves, an anchor for the present self or an homage to our future self.

Writing has been proven to improve mood, reduce anxiety, and enhance mental clarity.

The holidays are the perfect time to slow down, reconnect, and make space for fun as a family. Here are some simple, meaningful activities you can enjoy together:

🎄 Holiday movie night with cozy blankets
🎨 DIY ornament crafting
☃️ Outdoor winter walk or snowman building
🍪 Bake & decorate cookies
📖 Storytime by the tree
🤗 Gratitude circle, each person shares one thing they’re thankful for
🧩 Board game or puzzle night

It doesn’t have to be big or expensive what matters most is time spent together, building connection and memories that last.

If family dynamics feel stressful or overwhelming this season, our therapists at Creating Connection are here to help you navigate the holidays with more ease, support, and meaningful connection.

The holidays can bring extra pressure around appearance, dieting, or “holiday weight.” This season, remember: your body is enough exactly as it is.

Focus on what your body does for you, not what it “should” look like. Treat yourself with compassion and give yourself permission to enjoy the season without guilt or comparison.

If you find body image or self-acceptance challenging, our therapists at Creating Connection can help you navigate these feelings and cultivate a healthier, kinder relationship with yourself.
