You’re not “broken.”
You’re navigating a lot.

In Northern Ontario, life asks more of people than most realize.

Long winters that wear you down.
Shift work that flips your body and family life upside down.
Mining and industrial jobs that demand strength but don’t leave much room to exhale.
Communities where services are limited, and you’re taught to just cope and carry on.

Maybe you’re:

Feeling isolated, even around people
Carrying stress that doesn’t shut off when your shift ends
Noticing old family patterns or generational pain resurfacing
Caught between cultures, languages, or expectations and unsure where you fit

When life changes, your nervous system changes too.
That doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you’re human.

You don’t have to figure this out alone.

At Creating Connection, we act as a guide, helping you make sense of what you’re carrying and matching you with a therapist who understands Northern life, not just therapy theory.

Life Transition counselling is for people moving through:

Identity shifts
Work and lifestyle changes
Burnout, grief, or quiet overwhelm
Seasons of “something isn’t right, but I don’t know what”

There’s no pressure to have the right words.
No need to be at rock bottom.
Just a first conversation at the right pace, with the right support.

You don’t have to hit rock bottom to talk to someone.
Sometimes, you just need a guide through the transition.

Black History Month is not just history, it’s living, breathing, and present.

At Creating Connection, we recognize that mental health does not exist in a vacuum. It lives inside systems, histories, relationships, and bodies.

Black communities have carried intergenerational trauma shaped by racism, colonization, displacement, and systemic harm. They have also carried extraordinary resilience, wisdom, creativity, and healing traditions.

This month, we honour:
🖤 Black clinicians, healers, scholars, and community leaders
🖤 The emotional labour and survival required to exist in systems not built for safety
🖤 The ongoing impact of racial trauma on mental health today

As a clinic, our commitment goes beyond a post or a month. It means:
🖤 Practicing culturally responsive, trauma-informed care
🖤Continuing to examine our own biases and systems
🖤 Making space for conversations about race, identity, and belonging

We honour Black history by listening, learning, and showing up today and every day.🖤

Trauma-informed therapy and trauma processing therapy aren’t the same, and that distinction can be helpful when choosing support. Kaitlin walks you through the differences.

Our most popular coworker is finally making her social media debut! 🐾✨

If you’ve been into the last few months, you’ve likely seen Millie hard at work. As a dedicated service dog, she’s become a calming presence of the clinic’s daily life.

We celebrated her "official" debut with a well-earned pup cup from Ciao Sandwich Co. As you can see by the beard, she’s a pro at finding the joy in the little things! 🍦

When you see Millie in her blue vest, she’s hard at work, but she’s always happy to share the space with you.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) blends mindfulness practices with cognitive-behavioural therapy tools to help break the cycle of chronic worry, anxiety, and low mood.

Rather than fighting anxious thoughts, MBCT helps you notice them with curiosity and compassion, bringing you back to the present moment.

Easy ways to practice mindfulness at home:
• Gentle stretching or yoga
• A 3-minute breathing exercise
• Sitting meditation
• Mindful body scan
• Enjoying a warm drink or journaling with intention

Coldest Night of the Year is more than just a walk, it’s a chance to stand in solidarity with those in our community who are facing hunger, homelessness, and hardship. ❄️💙

This year, we’re proud to be fundraising in support of the Timmins Anti-Hunger Coalition, whose work helps ensure people in our community have access to nutritious food and support during challenging times.

Every donation, share and step taken helps create warmth, connection, and hope. Thank you for walking with us, donating, and helping make a real difference 💙

Grief doesn’t always come from death.

It can come from:
• The end of a relationship you hoped would last
• Losing yourself after becoming a parent
• The future you imagined while facing infertility
• A job or role that once gave you purpose

These losses are often invisible, which can make them heavier to carry. You may feel sad, irritable, numb, stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. You don’t have to make sense of it alone; therapy can help you process the loss and reconnect with yourself.
