We’re on the lookout for LEGO! 🧱

At Bright Spot, we use LEGO in our therapy sessions to support creativity, communication, problem-solving, and connection for the kids we work with. It’s a huge hit - and we us a lot of them!

We’d love to purchase second-hand, mixed LEGO from our community rather than buying brand new. If you have bins, boxes, or sets that are no longer being used, we’d be happy to give them a second life in a really meaningful way.

We are so excited to welcome Shannon Pilon, our newest Therapy Assistant, to the team at Bright Spot!

She brings 10 years of experience in the education field, primarily in Kindergarten, where she developed a strong passion for helping children learn, grow, and build confidence.

Shannon is known for bringing a fun, silly, and positive energy into everything she does - creating an environment where children feel their best and are able to shine.

Outside of work, she loves spending time with her daughter and family, who mean everything to her. We are so happy to have her on our team and can’t wait for you to meet her!

Elle possède 10 années d’expérience dans le domaine de l’éducation, principalement en maternelle, où elle a développé une grande passion pour aider les enfants à apprendre, grandir et gagner en confiance.

Shannon est reconnue pour son énergie amusante, un peu f***e et très positive - créant un environnement où les enfants se sentent bien et peuvent s’épanouir pleinement.

En dehors du travail, elle aime passer du temps avec sa fille et sa famille, qui comptent énormément pour elle. Nous sommes ravis de l’avoir parmi nous et avons hâte que vous fassiez sa connaissance!

Join us in giving our new Payroll Coordinator, Stacey, a warm Bright Spot welcome! ☀️

Stacey is a finance professional as well as a hair salon owner and stylist. While raising her children, she worked in her hair salon and attended college and university to obtain multiple diplomas in Human Resources Management, accounting and most recently, a bachelor of commerce. She has worked in the roles of accounts receivable clerk at the hospital and business consultant for the federal government.

A true northern girl, Stacey loves spending time hiking, hunting and fishing. Any time spent on the trails or in the forest with family and friends is time well spent. Stacey loves to travel, go camping, attend concerts and spend quality time with those she loves.

Stacey est une professionnelle de la finance, propriétaire d'un salon de coiffure et coiffeuse. Tout en élevant ses enfants, elle a travaillée dans son salon et a poursuivi des études poste secondaires pour obtenir plusieurs diplômes: en gestion des ressources humaines, en comptabilité et, plus récemment, un baccalauréat en commerce. Elle a travaillée comme commis aux comptes dans un hôpital et comme consultante en affaires pour le gouvernement fédéral.

Véritable enfant du Nord, Stacey adore la randonnée, la chasse et la pêche. Chaque instant passé sur les sentiers ou en forêt avec sa famille et ses amis est un pur bonheur. Stacey aime voyager, camper, des spectacles musicales ainsi que passer du temps de qualité avec ses bien aimés.

When we try to schedule a meeting on Friday the 13th before March Break...

The agenda said “meeting,”
but sleep had its say,
and suddenly snoozing took over the day.

From couches to tables
our clinicians agree:
good sleep helps brains learn, grow, and be free.

So tonight when bedtime comes into view,
remember that rest helps bright kids shine through.

It’s another snow day!
Our clinicians WILL be travelling to schools today.
Reminder: typically when it is a snow day, if your child's clinician feels safe to drive, they will still go to schools to see your child and we will provide an indirect to students that are not at school in lieu of sessions.

What if you had to connect without using your voice?

On May 22, we’re inviting our community to experience communication in a different way.

Join us for Something to Say, a silent lunch experience where guests will use communication tools and AAC to interact throughout the event. It’s a small glimpse into the world many of the children and families we support navigate every day.

All proceeds from the lunch will fund therapy scholarships for local children, helping make speech, occupational, and counselling services more accessible in our community.

You can purchase tickets through the event page or by scanning the QR code on the poster.

We can’t wait to share this meaningful (and very unique) lunch experience with our community.

Today our team from Timmins all the way to Neskantaga are wearing pink, not just as a colour, but as a commitment.

We're joining for the 9th Annual Fundraiser as we come together to walk, raise awareness, and support our neighbors facing food insecurity.
Every step helps make a difference. Let’s show what our community can do when we walk together!

We will be having a staff challenge again to see who can raise the most money! The staff member who raises the MOST amount of money will be completing the walk dressed as a giant sun, and the one who raises the LEAST will get pied in the face by the giant sun!
