Successful completion of veterinary technician course is required for an application to be considered.
Technician duties will include: assisting veterinarians in the exam rooms during appointments, preparing for and monitoring during surgery, performing lab duties such as blood work, urinalysis, and f***l testing, taking x-rays and assisting with ultrasound, dental care, etc. Applicants will be expected to educate clients on nutrition and preventative care, and a variety of topics.
Veterinary Technician Skills and Qualifications:
Vet technicians need a variety of soft skills and technical knowledge to excel at the job. Some of the most important skills include:
Expert animal handling skills
Excellent communication skills, spoken and written
A strong sense of team work
Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks depending on needs
Good organizational skills
Technical knowledge in areas such as using diagnostic equipment, dental equipment, etc
Computer skills to maintain medical records in veterinary software
Compensation: $23.00-$25.00/hr.
