Thank you to Tisdale and Area Early Years Family Resource Centre for having me share information on Chiropractic Care for Infants. We touched on Pregancy care as well.

It was a wonderful opportunity to answer questions and demonstrate a pediatric assessment; share advice for optimal growth and development; and how important it is to ensure baby’s body is functioning its best thru a very important first year of life.

Chiropractic assessment & appropriate adjustments of the pregnant patient plays a pivotal role in comfort for expectant moms, but also helps them move better and positively influences how they birth their babies.

Chiropractors trained in pre-natal care are constantly assessing the potential torsioning of the sacrum (the lowest part of your back) and the impact on its connection to the uterus. Tension in the round ligament, the broad ligament and the uterosacral ligament is common in pregnancy due to release of relaxin hormone. This hormone allows for low back shifting and expanding to make room for baby and the growing uterus.

It is very appropriate for pregnant women to get regular chiropractic care throughout pregnancy, as well as postpartum care to optimize healing after birth.
