Chiropractic Care: More than Pain Relief

How you choose to benefit from chiropractic care is a personal choice AND based upon your overall health and condition of your body when you present for assessment!! Bottom line: it is ALWAYS better to be evaluated sooner than later AT ANY AGE for optimal health and best results from a personalized plan of management.

There are basically 3 categories of chiropractic care – acute, maintenance or supportive. ⭐️ Learning about the differences in care will explain how these approaches work to provide symptom relief and/or help ensure you are achieving your functional, mobility (movement), and lifestyle goals.

✴️ ACUTE CHIROPRACTIC CARE ... It is used for issues of the neuro-muscular-skeletal systems that have only been present for less than 3 months AND the goal is simply symptom relief... to help patients get back to their pre-injury level of function and mobility.

✴️ SUPPORTIVE CHIROPRACTIC CARE ... It is for patients who have chronic underlying conditions, issues that have been present for more than 3 months, and chiropractic care is required help to manage their symptoms and prevent issues from getting worse. While full function may not be restored, the goal is to enhance mobility, reduce discomfort, and improve overall quality of life.

✴️ MAINTENANCE CHIROPRACTIC CARE ... It is recommended to have regular chiropractic assessments to prevent future issues from developing, aim to prevent injuries, and work to maintain long-term function and movement. Instead of waiting until symptoms such as pain, stiffness, or lack of movement appear, maintenance chiropractic visits ensure your neuromusculoskeletal system (nerves, muscles, and bones) stay functioning optimally.

Introduction to Chiropractic.

From Hippocrates and Galen, to the 19th century British bone setters, the importance of the spine and nervous system as they relate to the health of the individual has long been recognized.

With increased knowledge & success, there has been a greater appreciation for natural, conservative health methods. Chiropractic has championed the concept of holistic healthcare, focused on restoring the power and integrity of the body and mind to better deal with stress and dis-ease. 

Chiropractic is directed at evaluating & locating the cause of biomechanical & structural derangements of the spine, which could affect the nervous system and the body’s natural defence mechanisms. It seeks to restore spinal structural integrity, which has an effect on the total health of the individual.

As a formal profession, Chiropractic is 130 years old in 2025, founded by a Canadian, DD Palmer.

Nutrition is the foundation to optimal health. It will affect your energy, mood, sleep, performance, recovery, hormones, skin, fat loss/gain!… A healthy diet (NOT deprivation) is more than counting calories & macros; it is about quality food in the right amounts at the right time.

To shape up your nutrition:

🥗 Focus on consuming plenty of fruits, vegetables & whole grains. Aim for veggies on half your plate, 30 different veggies a week, eat from the rainbow.

🥚 Choose healthy proteins like eggs, fish, beans, nuts & lean meats.

💧 Drink water instead of sugary beverages. Green tea has huge health benefits. Limit coffee to 2 cups a day.

❌ Avoid high-sodium, high-sugar & highly processed foods. Pay attention to food labels to make informed choices (preservatives, colors/dyes).

🥘 Cook more meals at home & cultivate mindful eating habits for long-term success (portion control; avoid eating in front of tv; chew slowly & savour the flavour)

IT'S BACK !!!!!!!!!

Saskatchewan Chiropractors believe that the health of all residents is vital, no matter what their social or financial standing, AND years ago we discovered that the most requested personal item needed in the cold winter months is socks. Since 2016 Chiropractors have provided a Toasty Toes Sock Drive so no one has to go without socks.

In partnership with The Salvation Army, participating clinics will collect NEW socks of all sizes and types until November 30. Another option is to donate to your clinic and they will purchase socks for you! In the 9th Annual Drive, the HealthPlex Chiropractic & Massage clinic has a goal to collect over 400 pairs!

Please drop off during clinic hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 – 5:00 (closed from 12-1)

There are a number of benefits from maintaining GOOD posture:
** Keeps bones and joints in alignment so muscles can be used more efficiently.
** Allows body to use less energy for daily tasks.
** Helps decrease wear on joints that could otherwise result in arthritis.
** Decreases stress on ligaments that hold the joints of the spine together.
** Helps prevent back ache and muscular pain.
** Increases flexibility and stress tolerance of the spine.
** Makes you look great!

POOR posture can negatively impact anyone, young and old.
Poor posture is caused by:
-- Long periods of inactivity.
-- Being hunched over desks, computers and handheld electronic devices.
-- Jobs that require repetitive, physically taxing activities, including a lot of bending forward and lifting.

How many hours a day do you spend sitting? Reading, using computers, driving, watching TV —all that sitting adds up and can cause back and neck pain, especially if you have poor posture.

Did you know that lower back pain and other musculoskeletal conditions account for one third of missed work in Canada?

It’s time to Straighten Up Canada and improve your spinal health!

Canada’s chiropractors have developed a video series for that. Straighten Up Canada is a free, easy-to-perform posture program that you can use for just three minutes a day. (The Straighten Up program was first launched in the U.S. in 2005. A study in the U.S. found that people who practiced the Straighten Up exercises daily for five consecutive weeks experienced improved posture, stronger core muscles, and felt more comfortable.)

The Straighten Up Canada program can be practiced almost anywhere and is a great warm up, cool down, stand-alone routine OR ergonomic break.
