I am working on a project 🚌

After almost four decades of service bringing smiles and care to island communities, my father’s mobile dental clinic — a 1974 converted Bluebird bus — is being reborn. What once carried dental tools is now being lovingly transformed into my tiny home, herbal apothecary, and retreat space.

I’ve been invited to join dear friends on their 10-acre forested property, where a creek winds behind the land and an old-growth trail leads to a quiet lake. Together, we’re cultivating a space for retreats, workshops, and gatherings — a sanctuary for those longing to reconnect with nature and themselves.

Can you guess where on the island this land is…?

This journey is about more than a bus conversion, it’s an alchemy of life: honoring legacy, embracing simplicity, and co-creating a more sustainable and soulful way of living — rooted in the grassroots hornby island way.

We truly are a reflection of the natural world as Chinese medicine reminds us.

Each season has an elemental current that aligns us to the subtle but significant pulse of nature.

The energy of the METAL 🗡️ element, that we are currently swirling in, has alchemical capacity to cut through the old bu****it, transform pain to power and turn lead to gold.

Just like the crisp air touching your face there is a sharp clarity in this season. It can be a gateway, if chosen, into new territory.

Seen in the mist, falling leaves, changing colours, candlelight, sunlight through the clouds, moonlight in the dark night sky, the warmth of a fire and found in slow mornings, early nights, nourishing stews and warm sweaters.

These all are sweet medicine to embrace through the increasing darkness and as we navigate the intensity of this surrender season 🍂
