My name is Christa (Cristal Aeyan) - moved from Toronto to Playa Del Carmen (Mexico) last year and I am back in Toronto on and off.
I am a classically trained singer with 15 years of teaching voice and music theory in community schools and privately, as well as performing.
When the pandemic hit, I lost my voice due to stress and anxiety, and I stopped singing.
Then I moved to Mexico and eventually participated in my first ayahuasca ceremony that changed my perspective on life. In my awakening phase from the experience I sang never-before heard icaros along with the shaman, as if the music was coming to me from the universe.
After that night my music journey took a 180 degree turn, towards healing and medicine music. I picked up various native and healing instruments, I started sound healing & meditation circles in Mexico and held space for meditations and mindfulness sessions and ceremonies.
My favourite instrument is still voice, and then in order: my African harp (kamelengoni), tibetan bowls, ocarina, chimes and frame drum.
In terms of healing - as a musician with many years of experience, I obviously believe in the power of sound, in the healing frequencies of certain instruments, and in the human voice and harmonies.
Beyond sound, I am an advocate of plant medicine, and I can personally attest to the healing power of plants. I have the most experience with psilocybin which is the most gentle and effective way to cure depression. I experienced it on my own skin and I am deeply grateful to them.
I plan to have chats in person and online about various topics, one of them definitely plant medicine. Other topics: sound healing, conscious change, spiritual healing and growth, and open to other topics. The format to be discussed with whomever wants to join me in this project.
Where healing led me, I would love to guide others on that path.
I believe there are enough souls in the world in need for healing. The world will be a truly healthy place once everyone becomes a sound healer. So I believe that us, sound healers, as guides, we have our work cut out for us and we need to shine brightly to show the way.
